Job Description:

A well-established mining operation is seeking an experienced Plant Manager to lead the safe, reliable and efficient operation of its processing plant.

The successful candidate will have a strong Mechanical Engineering background, extensive iron ore processing experience, and proven experience managing concentrator plants incorporating jaw and cone crushing circuits.

This is a senior leadership opportunity for a highly experienced Mechanical Engineering professional with a strong track record in processing operations.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the overall operation and maintenance of the processing plant.
  • Manage fixed crushing plant performance, availability and reliability.
  • Oversee jaw and cone crusher operations and associated plant infrastructure.
  • Take responsibility for the plant’s engineering and maintenance functions.
  • Drive preventative and planned maintenance strategies.
  • Manage plant production, costs, safety and operational performance.
  • Lead engineering, maintenance and operational teams.
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory, safety and environmental requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement, plant optimisation and equipment reliability.
  • Manage contractors, shutdowns and major maintenance activities.

 

Requirements: Qualification and Skill

  • Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Processing-related qualifications or certifications advantageous.
  • Relevant safety and first-aid training.
  • Minimum 15 years’ experience in the mining industry, with a combination of mechanical engineering and plant leadership roles within concentrator environments.
  • Strong iron ore experience is essential.
  • Well-versed in concentrator plants, jaw and cone crushers.
  • Previous 2.6.1 legal appointment for a full processing plant is essential.
  • Previous 3.1(a) legal appointment preferred.
  • Must have held responsibility for the engineering function of a processing plant.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Currently based in South Africa and willing to relocate to the Northern Cape.
