About the Role 

Based at our Perth Office, this position is responsible for leading stakeholder engagement and consultation activities to support the acceptance of environmental regulatory approvals to achieve our Western Australian (WA) and Northern Australian (NA) business objectives. The position reports to the Manager, Stakeholder Engagement and Consultation within Santos’ Government and Communities team.

Key activities include:

  

  • Working with the Manager, Stakeholder Engagement and Consultation to develop regional consultation strategies and continuously improve associated internal processes.
  • Leading the development of consultation plans to support Regulator acceptance of primary and secondary environmental approvals across Commonwealth, Northern Territory (NT) and WA jurisdictions.
  • Leading consultation activities for proposed Santos activities offshore Western Australia and Northern Territory, including the development and internal approval of consultation materials.
  • Engaging government, industry and community stakeholders as required. 
  • Maintaining engagement and consultation records and outcomes.
  • Drafting relevant content for regulatory approvals documents with respect to consultation activities.
  • Collaborating with Santos’ Government Affairs, Community Affairs, Environment and Project teams to identify and manage stakeholder opportunities, risks, and issues impacting regulatory approvals.
  • Ensuring Santos management system requirements, including internal assurance review processes, are met. 
  • Participating in Regulator inspection activities as required.

  

About You

You are an adaptable and forward-thinking leader, capable of thriving in a dynamic business environment. Your proficiency in engaging with stakeholders at all levels and delivering diverse information, coupled with knowledge of Commonwealth, NT and WA environmental approvals processes and legislation., will be key to your success in this role.

You will have:

  • Extensive experience in a similar or related position, including liaising with internal and external stakeholders and confidence in public speaking.
  • A strategic approach to managing and resolving complex public issues.
  • Strong working knowledge of Commonwealth, NT and WA environmental approvals processes, as well as relevant legislation and government/industry guidance.
  • Advanced interpersonal, public speaking, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, multitask, attention to detail and take on additional responsibilities as needed.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft 365 and Adobe Applications.
  • Experience with commercial and legal frameworks in a corporate environment is highly desirable

National travel may be required for this role, based on business needs.
