Job Description:
Our mining client with operations in the DRC have an opportunity for a Procurement Superintendent to join their team to be based in Johannesburg at their Corporate Offices. This position will involve travel to the DRC at least 1 week per month. This role reports directly into the Supply Chain Manager.
Responsibilities:
- Overseeing the procurement of all materials and services for the mining operation
- Developing and implementing procurement strategies to optimize costs and ensure compliance with all regulations
- Managing supplier relationships and negotiating contracts
- Managing a team of buyers (some of them in DRC, others in Johannesburg)
- Conducting market research and identifying new suppliers
- Maintaining accurate records of all procurement activity
Requirements: Qualification and Skill
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management or a related field
- 8+ years of experience in procurement, with a proven track record of success in a mining or manufacturing environment
- Good understanding of the DRC market
- Excellent negotiation skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
