Job Description:

Our client, a global leader in controlled environments and safety technologies, is seeking to appoint a Production Technician to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all products are assembled, tested, and installed in accordance with internal quality standards and client requirements. This role requires a hands-on technician with strong electrical and mechanical aptitude, capable of working both in a workshop and on-site environment.

Responsibilities:

Manufacturing & Assembly

• Manufacture and assemble products in line with internal specifications and quality standards.

• Install electrical and mechanical components within refuge chambers and systems.

• Ensure all assembly processes meet quality management system requirements.

Testing & Commissioning

• Test installations in both workshop and on-site environments.

• Conduct site commissioning and servicing of refuge chambers and related equipment.

• Ensure all systems are fully operational and compliant prior to handover.

Maintenance & Fault Finding

• Perform electrical fault finding and provide technical support to customers.

• Carry out repairs and maintenance to minimise operational downtime.

• Ensure timely resolution of technical issues.

Site Installation & Support

• Install permanent refuge chambers and related systems on-site.

• Provide technical advice and support to clients where required.

• Adhere to all site safety regulations and protocols.

Operational & Administrative Support

• Meet production and assembly deadlines.

• Generate accurate reports for internal tracking and client reporting.

• Assist with stores and general workshop duties as required.

Health, Safety & Team Collaboration

• Maintain high standards of housekeeping and occupational health and safety.

• Collaborate with technicians, engineers, and sales teams to improve service delivery.

• Share knowledge and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives

Requirements: Qualification and Skill

• Trade Test: Electrician or Millwright (essential)

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a relevant technical or trade environment

• Matric and/or National Diploma

• Strong electrical fault-finding and troubleshooting skills

• Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment

• Ability to work in both workshop and on-site environments

• Strong written and verbal English communication skills

• Medically and physically fit for a manufacturing and site-based environment

• Valid driver’s licence and ability to travel to sites

• Registration to issue Electrical Certificate of Compliance (advantageous)
