PROJECT ACCOUNTANT
Job Summary
The project accountant role located in Houston, TX supports the project management and execution teams across a diverse portfolio of international projects. Key objectives for this role include detail cost tracking, variance analysis, profitability forecasting, cash flow analysis, and reporting. The project accountant is also responsible for supporting the month-end close process, balance sheet management, and ensures compliance with financial controls.
Responsibilities:
Validate and approve supporting documentation for revenue recognition. Review vendor invoices for accuracy. Review and maintain revenue and cash forecasting schedules. Track actual project revenues, expenses, commitments, and cash flows. Prepare variance analysis to budgets and forecast. Perform monthly project financial analysis and recommend profitability estimates. Coordinate with project management team to review project risks, opportunities, and contingency planning. Provide monthly financial reporting to project stakeholders and various ad-hoc reporting. Reconciliation of project receivable, inventory, liability, revenue, and expense accounts. Prepare journal entries. Support the management of change (MOC) process. Review and maintain project contracts and change orders. Support month end close process. Support internal and external audit activities.
Minimum Job Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business, or similar with 3+ years relevant work experience.
- Strong communication and problem solving skills.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in construction or production related industries is a plus.
- Previous project accounting experience is a plus. SAP software experience.
- General understanding of project schedules and risk management. Self-starter.
