Santos

At Santos, we do work that matters and always have. When you join us, so will you.

As an ASX 20 global energy company, we’re committed to providing reliable and affordable energy to help create a better world for everyone.

To make it happen, we work as One Team and ask ourselves, “How can we?” (Even when others say, “We can’t.”)

We’re proud of our history as pioneers, problem-solvers, and pragmatists. And as we strive to achieve our Vision2040, we’ve got our sights set on a culture that is focussed and disciplined to drive value, and entrepreneurial and energised to leave a positive legacy.

The difference isn’t just thinking big – it’s delivering on it too.

As part of the team, you’ll tackle one of the most complex problems of our time. It’s no easy task, but nothing rewarding ever is.

What you’ll do:

Based in Brisbane, the Project Controls Lead for the KPS FSO Project will spearhead project controls, planning and cost management to ensure successful delivery within budget and schedule. You’ll establish robust control systems, provide critical data insights for strategic decision-making and collaborate closely with senior project leaders to monitor performance and identify emerging risks. This is your opportunity to make a significant impact on a major project while driving excellence in project controls practices.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead and mentor project control teams whilst advising Senior Project Manager on risks and strategic solutions
  • Serve as primary contact for all project control, risk management and change management activities
  • Oversee internal and joint venture planning and budgeting cycles
  • Develop and maintain master integrated project schedules with contractor coordination
  • Facilitate cross-functional planning sessions and ensure comprehensive schedule integration
  • Identify schedule risks, conduct sensitivity analysis and recommend mitigation strategies
  • Monitor contractor performance and ensure compliance with contract requirements
  • Implement and maintain project control processes, procedures and tools across teams
  • Maintain commercial awareness of contracts including scope, payment terms and variations
  • Conduct audits, health checks and support project reporting and benchmarking initiatives

What you’ll bring:

The ideal candidate brings extensive experience in major capital project execution, preferably within extractive industries, with proven Project Controls leadership experience across diverse contracting environments. This collaborative team player demonstrates in-depth knowledge of project planning (Primavera P6), change control and cost forecasting, combined with advanced Excel skills and tertiary qualifications in engineering, commerce or project management. We seek a professional who aligns with Santos values, possesses excellent communication and presentation abilities, and can effectively engage stakeholders at all levels whilst delivering project controls tasks independently with integrity and precision. Familiarity with additional project controls software packages for cost control and scheduling would be highly desirable.

What you’ll get:

Here, you’ll be amongst high-calibre people and get to work on industry-leading projects. We don’t shy away from solving tough problems at pace. We like it that way. You can expect to be challenged and supported; to learn and grow.

At Santos, we’re committed to creating a workplace where everyone can thrive. This means a place that is safe; where you are valued and respected, and your contribution is recognised and appreciated. Join us, and you’ll play a role in this too.

Each of our sites offer access to specific amenities that aim to create the best possible benefits to your health, wellbeing and performance. In Brisbane, this includes Onsite Gym facilities, Onsite GP services and many more employee benefits.

What you’re part of:

Everywhere you turn you will be a part of a team who are coming together to contribute to our single uniting purpose – to provide reliable and affordable energy to help create a better world for everyone

And because it’s not only what you do, but how you do it, you will also contribute to improving the living standards of the communities where we operate, building enduring and respectful relationships that serve a generation. It’s about each of us, and all of us – together.
