The Opportunity:

Key Accountabilities:

  • Coordinate project applications and approvals, including regulatory and government funding applications
  • Develop execution plans, budgets and cost estimates, schedules, risk registers, and resource plans for the work and for stage gate packages
  • Work closely with key internal stakeholders to finalize the Project Scoping documents and Project Charter prior to the kick-off of the project
  • Ensure all designs are reviewed with all stakeholders and feedback is incorporated
  • Select and provide day-to-day oversight of EP, technology licensors, equipment, materials and construction contractors
  • Review project progress and take action when required to rectify issues that arise
  • Provide routine project status reports to internal and external stakeholders
  • Steer projects through gate reviews
  • Be aware of, and work according to, applicable guidelines, directives and regulations concerning the Environment, Safety, AER, and the Alberta Boilers Safety Association

  • Job location: Calgary, Alberta
  • Eligible for relocation pursuant to Canadian Natural’s Relocation Regular Policy

  • Shift schedule: 5 days on, 2 days off (Monday to Friday)
  • This is a safety sensitive position

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineer with at least 10 years of experience in project engineering and construction in the oil and gas industry
  • Proven ability to execute projects through the full project cycle
  • Front-end project development/economics, field experience, and managing medium to large size projects are  definite assets, as well as previous experience in thermal heavy oil
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, organizational and team skills, and a strong work ethic are required
