Project Operations Advisor

Job Summary:

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Project Operations Engineer / Advisor to join the team in Surrey a leading power generation and carbon capture project that forms part of the UK government’s ambitious plans to reach Net Zero.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in developing a fit-for-purpose utility industry scale OMS (operations management system) that can effectively control Major Accident Hazards.

The successful candidate will be responsible for documenting the Local OMS, creating a single region-wide plan integrating all workstreams from all functions, and planning the stand-up of the Operating Company.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of a comprehensive Local OMS for the New energy businesses in North East UK.
  • Prepare detailed decision papers supporting key choices made during the OMS development process
  • Consolidate input from various workstreams and functions to create a unified region-wide plan
  • Oversee the planning and execution of the stand-up of the Operating Company
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and integration of OMS activities
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent industry experience
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in developing and implementing OMS systems
  • Minimum 10 years in the oil and gas, chemicals, downstream, or utility industries.
  • Proven track record of success in leading complex operations in uncertain environments
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Collaborative approach and willingness to work effectively within a team environment
  • Self-motivated and results-oriented with a strong work ethic
