Job Duties

Under broad direction, mentors a team of Software Testers that can be comprised of Manual and Automated Test Engineers. Comprehensive understanding of all elements of a successful software development program. Including but not limited to Code Inspections, Manual Testing, Automated Testing, Functional Requirements, Design, Usability, Test plans and Results and Defect Management. Assists with secure architecture design reviews and supports preparing applications for security testing. Ensures security vulnerabilities have been mitigated. This role is an integral part of the planning of future releases including estimating efforts required in Testing and Documentation and advising on product improvements based on experience gained from previous releases and customer feedback. Usually works on projects of moderate to complex scope. Requires completion of an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Geo-science, Petroleum Engineering or similar discipline, and 4+ years of related experience, including software testing and/or development experience. Completion of a masters degree is preferred.

Qualifications & Experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and execute automated regression tests for upstream Oil & Gas systems, ensuring secure and
    high-quality software delivery.
  • Support secure architecture reviews, application security testing, and vulnerability mitigation.
  • Document and manage defects, contribute to test planning, and assist with database upgrades and
    schema changes.
  • Work independently on moderately complex projects, applying strong analytical and decision-making 
    skills.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 4+ years of QA experience, preferably in upstream Oil & Gas applications.
  • Strong domain knowledge in Petroleum Engineering and drilling workflows.
  • Proven technical abilities; relevant intern/co-op experience is a plus.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.

Technical Expertise

  • Proficient in automation tools: Cypress, Selenium, Postman/Newman, JMeter, Jasmine.
  • Skilled in JavaScript and shell scripting (bash).
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and tools like Azure DevOps, TFS, JIRA.
  • Familiar with CI/CD tools (Maven, Jenkins, Ansible), containerization, and Kubernetes.
  • Database experience: SQL Server, PostgreSQL (nice to have).
  • Competent in Windows and Linux environments; exposure to Azure and AWS cloud technologies.
  • Strong understanding of software development fundamentals and object-oriented design principles.
