Our clients SPEN are looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join their team based in Glasgow.

Purpose
The Quantity Surveying (QS) position sits within SPD, reporting to the Senior Quantity Surveyor. The job holder will deliver commercial support, expertise and knowledge from pre-tender to final account for a portfolio of network asset installation. Providing effective commercial advice and delivering against the business targets.

Responsibilities

• Control external contract expenditure through appropriate scope control, change management, technical and financial verification processes in specific licence area.
• Monitor and implement contractual obligations with respect to notifications, payments and commercial correspondence.
• Audit District behaviour and provide timely and constructive challenge on commercial processes and administration of contracts.
• Manage the contractual relationships to resolve disputes promptly and directly interface with senior contractor delivery staff.
• Agree value of works done for interim and progress payments with contractors.
• Represent the SP Energy Networks at negotiation meetings.
• Take responsibility for your personal development.
• Involve the team in finding solutions to areas where performance is not on target.

Criteria

• Degree in quantity surveying, or equivalent (essential)
• Experience of being a Quantity Surveyor in a contractor role (essential)
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
• Awareness of construction legislation
• Expertise working with FIDIC Yellow Book, FIDIC Short Form and NEC Option B
