Job Overview:


The successful candidate will provide leadership, coordination, and development for the Reliability Team for the Eagle Ford Asset.  The team is responsible for improving HES, Production and Cost performance by improving the overall reliability of surface equipment and pipeline systems. The position is also expected to facilitate successful collaboration with other departments, including Production Operations, HES, Facilities Engineering, and Regulatory teams in addition to other related teams within the company. Although based in Houston, the successful candidate will have an expectation to travel regularly to Eagle Ford Field offices located southeast of San Antonio.


 


The team’s core mission is to provide improved reliability to surface and fixed equipment by adapting and applying core components of a Reliability Centered Maintenance system to fit the needs of an upstream oil and gas business. This cross-functional perspective provides the opportunity to participate and influence in almost all aspects of the asset operation to ensure reliability and production efficiency.  The position will report to the Facilities & Construction Manager based in Houston.


 


Key skills include analytical thinking, technical knowledge of upstream oil and gas fixed, rotating, and pipeline equipment, problem solving, communication, project management, data management, continuous improvement mindset and safety consciousness.


 


Job Responsibilities:


  • Foster a strong safety culture
  • Manage team that provides data analysis of pipelines and equipment operations and maintenance records, including equipment failure data, conducting root cause analysis, and developing new processes and procedures
  • Responsible for the reliability program documentation for an OSHA PSM site, as well as the strategy for the asset, following  expectations defined by Marathon’s ROMS requirements, and improving these programs over time
  • Ensure that the asset’s maintenance plans are defined and monitor for patterns to provide recommendations for improvement
  • Develop and own asset strategic reliability initiatives
  • Provide support to operations teams in daily surface equipment repair jobs as needed
  • Guide the team through projects for major reliability improvements
  • Continue to influence and mature the culture of the asset to use reliability concepts to improve key asset metrics (HES, production availability, operating expense)
  • Support major business processes (budgeting, management of change, incident investigations/root cause evaluations, etc.) throughout the asset


 


Job Minimum Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or equivalent engineering function
  • 8+ years of reliability experience in oil and gas or chemical industries, with 2+ years’ experience directly managing personnel
  • Excellent oral and written communications, teamwork, planning & organizational skills 
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft suite of products including: Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Training will be provided as appropriate for Pro Count (production data management), SCADA and other software as deemed value-added.  CMMS (SAP-PM) experience preferred.
  • 20% travel to field office locations southeast of San Antonio, infrequent travel to other regional offices
