HYBRID ELIGIBILITY
This position works a hybrid schedule, spending time remotely and in the office in Offshore, US. The current hybrid schedule provides flexibility to collaborate in the office Tuesdays through Thursdays and work from home Mondays and Fridays. With our 9/80 feature you get time off every other Friday when you work at least 80 hours over the preceding nine days.
Position Summary
The Reliability Operator (RO) contributes to safe and efficient operations through competent operation and maintenance of process systems and associated equipment, completing all operations in accordance with regulatory and Hess requirements.
This position will be located Offshore in the Gulf of Mexico on a rotational basis (14/14).
General Responsibilities
Safety:
- Complying with the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) and United States Coast Guard (USCG) regulations
- Complying with all requirements in the GOM Management Systems documents and Hess EHS standards and practices as defined within the Hess EHS and Social Responsibility (SR) Management System
- Participating in the safety observation card (SOC) program
- Demonstrating leadership integrity in process and occupational safety
- Assuring any work undertaken personally or by co-workers is done with a driven purpose to eliminate or reduce risk from the workplace
- Completing operations in accordance with regulatory requirements, company controls and guidelines
- Contributing to the safe and efficient operations through competency and maintenance of process systems and associated equipment
- Assuring the correct permits, isolations, lift plans, etc., are created and properly executed
- Performing the duties of a Permit Issuer or a Permit Holder in compliance with the Hess Permit to Work system and according to competency level
- Preparing process equipment for maintenance by applying isolations/venting in accordance with Hess policies and procedures
- Assisting the Process Specialist in maintaining the SEMPCheck database for API RP 14C safety devices and the electronic library (e.g., BSEE communications and departures, calibration and proving reports, well data and others)
- Reporting potential process safety and operational optimization issues to the appropriate level
- Understanding Stop Work Authority (SWA) and Ultimate Work Authority (UWA), proactively using SWA when necessary
- Assisting in improved EHS performance:
- Managing occupational health and safety risks to eliminate injuries, illness, and incidents
- Assuring two-way dialogue with employees, contractors and other stakeholders during pre-job planning, Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), toolbox talks, simultaneous operations (SIMOPS) meeting and during the job
- Managing process safety risks, including environmental risks, to reduce process upsets including spills, leaks, and flaring
- Participating as a member of the Emergency Response Team:
- Complying with the responsibilities assigned as defined in each asset’s Emergency Response Plan (ERP) and the Emergency Evacuation Plan (EEP)
- Participating in emergency response exercises to assure a full understanding of the process and procedures.
Quality:
- Recommending changes to the maintenance strategy, policy and procedures as required
- Providing operations input to projects and turnaround (TAR) preparation as required
- Complying with the Hess Work Management process in SAP for all work on the facility
- Provide process troubleshooting and incident investigation support
- Informing the Production Supervisor or SRO of any maintenance activities that could potentially have a negative impact on reliability
- Working with the team to assure complete job plans and work packs, ensuring there are no gaps in work orders and all information is correct prior to being progressed
- Actively participating in the Hess Lean Continuous Improvement (CI) process, striving to improve operating and run-time efficiency
- Maintaining full engagement and compliance with the System Ownership plan (autonomous maintenance)
- Participating in root-cause failure investigations as required to prevent recurrence and help identify trigger events as failure cause
- Working with the Logistic Specialist (LS), Planner and Material Coordinator to assure information is correct in the work orders (e.g., the correct parts are available, and the work capacities are correct)
- Assuring the technical integrity and maintenance standards of equipment
- Assuring quality work order close-out with necessary attachments, pictures, and long text updates for completed work
- Inspecting and confirming suitability to return to normal service, prior to the startup of any process equipment
- Comply with all requirements in the Hess Operational Management System (HOMS) documents
- Participating in meetings as designated by the agreed terms of reference (TORs)
Delivery:
- Managing day-to-day operational priorities to maintain integrity of the facilities and production optimization
- Monitoring and adjusting production and injection well flow and pressure of the separation vessels, produced water handling, crude oil-to-export, gas compression, dehydration and oil and gas distribution
- Monitoring and recording key operational parameters at prescribed intervals on operator reading sheets and reporting any anomalies to the Control Room Operator (CRO) in a timely manner
- Conducting sampling for process operations, compliant with training and procedures
- Operating, monitoring, and adjusting production, utility, safety and control systems and equipment which includes:
- Wells Process (e.g., risers, manifolds, flowlines, umbilical’s, flow assurance/chemical injection and pigging)
- Oil separation (e.g., separators, oil treater and degasser)
- Gas process (e.g., booster gas, flash gas, dehydration, vapor recovery, gas lift and fuel gas)
- Seawater systems (e.g., lift, injection, filtration, and cooling medium)
- Produced water systems
- Heat medium and power systems (e.g., turbine generators and Waste Heat Recovery Units)
- Auxiliary systems (e.g., air/nitrogen, fuel systems, potable water, flares, tanks, and drains)
- Safety systems (e.g., fire/gas detection, firefighting, lifesaving, process control and process safety)
- Support equipment (e.g., rotating equipment, process field devices and packaged ancillary equipment)
Cost:
- Having an awareness of and challenging all maintenance and consumable costs incurred within the Operations teams’ production activities
People:
- Jointly agreeing upon personal performance objectives with the PS and implementing and maintaining management and career development to improve and enhance contribution to the overall team and safety of the facility
- Regularly reviewing personal performance objectives and progress with the PS
- Actively engaging in sharing technical knowledge with team members
Qualifications
Knowledge and Skills
- Complying with and meeting the Hess Corporation and Regulatory Competency Requirements for GOM
- High level of knowledge and understanding around personal and process safety
- Understanding and complying with BSEE GOM regulatory requirements as defined by Hess for competence requirements within this role/discipline
- Knowledge in offshore production operations
- Knowledge of SAP or other Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
- Good working knowledge of Permit to Work systems
- Good computer skills with the Microsoft 365 suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)
- Completing ongoing education, refresher, and new equipment training to maintain high- level performance
- Leadership and coaching skills
Experience
- Experience working offshore deepwater desirable
Education, Training & Certifications
- Associates degree preferred, minimum requirement is High School diploma or GED equivalent required
- Obtaining and maintaining Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (HUET)
- Obtaining and maintaining Production Safety Systems training (T-2)
