Job Duties

Under strict supervision, performs repairs, preventative maintenance, calibration, and inspections on down-hole tool electronics and other equipment used in the application for down-hole tools, including Directional/ RSS or M/LWD sensors.Responsible for ensuring duties are performed in a safe, efficient, and effective manner. Areas of specialization may include: mechanical aptitude, electronics aptitude, computer skills, assembly and disassembly of tools associated with PSL equipment, or Measure while drilling and/or Logging While Drilling down-hole tools. Requires a technical school certificate, or equivalent. An associate degree or higher is preferred.

 

Overview

We are looking for a highly motivated and detail‑oriented Downhole Tool Technician to join our team. This entry‑level role is ideal for fresh engineering graduates who are eager to build a career in downhole tool maintenance, inspection, and servicing within the oilfield services domain.

The technician will work under strict supervision to perform maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, and repair of downhole tool electronics and drilling equipment, including Directional, M/LWD sensors, and other tool systems. The role may involve assembly/disassembly, calibration, preventive maintenance, and daily equipment checks to ensure operational readiness.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

 

  • Perform maintenance and inspection of downhole tool electronics and equipment used in Directional Drilling and M/LWD operations.
  • Assist in assembly, disassembly, calibration, and testing of downhole tools.
  • Conduct daily inspections on drilling tools and systems to ensure proper functionality.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, or electronic components of downhole tools.
  • Execute preventive maintenance activities and replace spare parts as required.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair work.
  • Adhere to all safety and quality standards while working with high‑precision equipment.

 

Qualifications

Requirements

 

  • Education: BE/BTech in Mechanical, Electronics, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience: 0–2 years
  • Strong engineering fundamentals.
  • Mechanical/electrical/electronic aptitude and basic computer skills.
  • Ability to learn hands‑on tool maintenance and follow structured processes.

 

Candidates having qualifications that exceed the minimum job requirements will receive consideration for higher level roles given (1) their experience, (2) additional job requirements, and/or (3) business needs.  Depending on education, experience, and skill level, a variety of job opportunities might be available, including R&M Electrical Tech-I and R&M Electrical Tech- II.
