Marathon Oil is seeking a SCADA Developer to support the Wonderware SCADA Systems deployed across the onshore unconventional Oil & Gas assets. Working under the direction of the SCADA Technical Team Lead and Solutions Architect, this role is crucial for the development, maintenance, and enhancement of SCADA systems, ensuring operational continuity and effective support for business units. This position requires close coordination with our in-house IT infrastructure group, internal support teams, business users, and software vendors for technical changes, upgrades, and patch management.


 


This role is a core component of the SCADA Systems Team, demanding excellent written and verbal communication skills. The position requires participation in an on-call rotation, providing 24×7 support to address and resolve critical issues affecting production operations.


 


System Development & Implementation:


  • Develop and implement Wonderware SCADA system solutions for both new and existing Oil & Gas well sites and production facilities, including configuring SCADA system databases, alarming and control strategies using the ArchestrA System Platform.
  • Develop and implement reusable templates, well-behaved object scripting, components that enhance monitoring and controls, and custom and scalable toolkits.    
  • Develop and implement multi-level graphics integrating proven OMI apps and HMI systems for system overview, process control, trending, alarming, user management. 
  • Manage reporting requirements covering production data, exceptions, and communications.
  • Oversee system management tasks for backups, data loading, and archiving. 
  • Provide systems integration support for platforms including OSISoft PI, Cygnet, FlowCal, Autosol, Skelta Workflow.


 


Field Support:


  • Assist field personnel with the installation and testing of hardware interfaces to the HMI system, including servers and workstations, field controllers, specialized graphic cards, and network devices.
  • Provide first-level support for the installation and testing of local networks and protocols to ensure successful communication from the wellsite to the Historian.
  • Guide field personnel during the SCADA field checkout and integration with HMI systems.
  • Train SCADA Admins and operators on new or modified SCADA functionalities.


 


Qualifications:


  • 5-10 years of experience in operational administration and support within a SCADA environment, specifically within Wonderware systems (version 2020+ preferred).
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field preferred. 
  • Proficient in HMI protocols such as ROC, MODBUS, DNP3, Allen Bradley, and ABB.
  • Certifications in Wonderware and MQTT are highly desirable.
  • Experience with MQTT development and support (Sparkplug B, Mosquito Brokers, HiveMQ, eACM) preferred.
  • Oil & Gas Industry experience is preferred.
  • Strong background in Windows PC and Server environments, with extensive skills in database management and SQL reporting.
