Job Description:
Our client, a leading IPP, is seeking an experienced Senior Compliance Officer to join their Legal & Compliance team. This role is responsible for supporting and overseeing compliance with applicable regulatory and legal frameworks, contractual obligations, internal policies and governance standards across the region. The successful candidate will provide legal and compliance guidance throughout the project lifecycle, implement and monitor compliance programmes, conduct integrity due diligence and risk assessments, and promote an ethical culture across the organisation.
Responsibilities:
- Provide legal and compliance advice on regulatory requirements, contractual obligations and business risks across regional operations.
- Develop, implement and continuously improve compliance policies, procedures and governance frameworks aligned with Group standards and applicable legislation.
- Conduct compliance risk assessments, identify potential vulnerabilities and support the implementation of corrective action plans.
- Lead integrity due diligence assessments on suppliers, contractors, business partners and other third parties to identify legal, ethical and reputational risks.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Business Development, Engineering, Supply Chain, Finance and Project Management to proactively identify and mitigate compliance risks.
- Monitor compliance programmes and business practices to ensure ongoing adherence to legal, regulatory and internal governance requirements.
- Support the investigation and management of compliance incidents, including matters reported through whistleblower and grievance mechanisms.
- Develop and deliver compliance awareness initiatives, including training, onboarding programmes and promotion of the Company’s Code of Conduct.
- Prepare compliance reports, risk assessments and management updates to support informed decision-making and effective governance.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders while promoting a culture of integrity, transparency and ethical business practices.
- Support the delivery of regional compliance objectives and contribute to the implementation of the annual Compliance Action Plan.
Requirements: Qualification and Skill
- Master’s Degree in Law or a related legal qualification.
- Minimum 7 years’ relevant legal and compliance experience, including international commercial transactions, preferably within the energy sector.
- Experience developing and implementing compliance programmes, conducting risk assessments and integrity due diligence.
- Strong knowledge of corporate compliance, risk management, contract drafting and negotiation, and contract management.
- Exposure to renewable energy, project development, project finance, public procurement and the FIDIC suite of contracts will be advantageous.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills; additional languages will be advantageous.
- Strong analytical, stakeholder management, communication and problem-solving skills with the highest level of integrity.
