Petrofac is seeking a Senior Cost Engineer – PAYE contract position for 12 months based in Aberdeen, UK.




1.          Maintenance of budgets and variations

2.          Man-hour and cost expenditure analysis

3.          Analysis of productivity and billing rates for identification of trends affecting forecasts costs at completion

4.          Liaising with accounts for coordination and control of man-hour service invoicing process

5.          Liaising with project planning and management for updating project MPP

6.          Preparation of consolidated monthly cost reports for man-hour services, 3rd party and purchasing costs

7.          Preparation of consolidated monthly cash flow analysis for man hour services, 3rd party and purchasing costs

8.          Liaising with procurement and lead planners for monitoring receipt of invoices from vendors.

9.          Liaising with accounts for monitoring payment of vendor invoices

10.       Co-ordinate the process of generation of client back-charge invoices for 3rd party and equipment purchases and expedite any missing back-up documentation from vendors / Sharjah accounts

11.      Maintenance of 3rd party and equipment purchase order invoice register.

The postholder is expected to adhere to the Golden Rules of Safety (transitioning to ‘The 9 Lifesaving Rules in 2020) and the Petrofac Values.



·       Responsible for checking of MR’s and requisitions against approved budgets

·       Responsible for identifying CBS elements as billable or non-billable

·       Responsible for checking of all fee elements

·       Financial Authority as per current DOA (Delegation of Authority)


·       Ability to work with data outside the systems in an efficient manner in order to provide analysis of information

·       Interaction with Cost and functional Lead in report design

·       Review and identification of areas of optimisation and streamlining


Knowledge & Qualifications:

·       Ideally degree qualified in an appropriate business-related degree, or relevant experience in the fields of Quantity Surveying and / or Cost Control.

·       Understanding and experience of Project Controls / Cost systems (other than Excel). Experience with Mpower desirable.

·       Understanding of the principals of standardisation
