Senior Cost Engineer

 Petrofac is seeking a Senior Cost Engineer Contractor for 6 months based in Aberdeen, UK.

The role is outside IR35 and we invite Limited Companies to engage.

 The Scope

Services to be supported during the duration of the contract are detailed below. A requirement to undertake additional services shall be mutually agreed by way of contract amendment:

  • Maintenance of budgets and variations
  • Coding of purchase requisitioning for client and Petrofac approvals.
  • Liaising with accounts for coordination and control of man-hour service invoicing process
  • Liaising with project planning and management for updating project forecasts
  • Liaising with procurement and planning for monitoring receipt of invoices from vendors.
  • Liaising with accounts for monitoring payment of vendor invoices
  • Co-ordinate the process of generation of client back-charge invoices for 3rd party and equipment purchases and expedite any missing back-up documentation.
  • Maintenance of 3rd party and equipment purchase order invoice register.
  • Provides regular progress updates to the Commercial Team in Aberdeen, maintaining good communication
  • Liaison with Operations and Project Teams to assess labour hours and cost forecasts
  • Control and maintenance of project variations
  • Generation of monthly cost performance information including spend against budgets / funding including variance analysis, commitment tracking and forecasting.



Key deliverables to include:

  • Man-hour and cost expenditure analysis
  • Analysis of productivity and billing rates for identification of trends affecting forecasts costs at completion
  • Preparation of consolidated monthly cost reports for man-hour services, 3rd party and purchasing costs
  • Preparation of consolidated monthly cash flow analysis for man hour services, 3rd party and purchasing costs
  • Monitoring, measuring and reporting (with appropriate commentary) on the cost position of the project against the budgets / CTR’s / AFE’s (Capex Projects)
  • Compiling and submitting regular cost reports to the Project Manager(s) / Operations Manager(s) /Commercial Team and Clients
  • Producing spend profiles by process, discipline and overall project against budget
  • Maintenance of Project CTR Register including reporting of AFE and CTR Status
  • Produce, monitor and check weekly time writing reports, include one against CTR hours
  • Preparation of regular monthly accrual valuations and ensuring these are presented to clients in a timely and correct manner
