Job description

Our client seeks a Senior Electrical and Instrumentation Designer for their client in Pinjarra. This is an initial 12 month contract and has a real potential of an extension.


About the Role:

  • Deliver Electrical and Instrumentation specific design and drafting services that meet the clients and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify design scope based on the project definition and develop list of drawing deliverables and estimates to complete the work.
  • Initiate and manage design and drafting assignments on projects requirements on time and within budget.
  • Perform Electrical and Instrumentation specific design and drafting services such as:
    • Ensure the project scope is clear and that changes to scope comply with project change management processes.
    • Participate in project reviews as required.
    • Prepare and oversee the production of engineering drawings and documentation.
    • Ensure all drawings and documents are checked in accordance with Worley and client checking procedures.
    • Participate in project reviews as required.
  • Provide technical support and advice to Project teams, participate in peer reviews and consult relevant resources as required.
  • Communicate effectively, establish and maintain good working relationships with the site Engineering team, clients and other project stakeholders.
  • Prepare and assist in the preparation of project documentations such as budgets, estimates, forecasts, schedules and reports.

About you:

  • Advanced Diploma of Engineering Technology – Electrical or an Electrical Tradesperson who has completed the Electrical Design, Drafting and Estimates course.
  • Electrical License (highly regarded).
  • Substantial Electrical and Instrumentation design and drafting experience in the Refinery/Mining Industry or similar industry.
  • Experience in Brownfield electrical systems modifications (LV/MV/HV).
  • A good understanding of Australian electrical standards.
  • Highly effective technical and practical Electrical and Instrumentation design and drafting skills. Able to consistently deliver quality, accurate and timely work to the client.
  • Competent in the use of relevant software such as MS Office Suite and highly competent in the use of Bentley Microstation.
  • Pro-active with excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent customer focus and able to consistently meet the  client’s needs.
  • Effectively manage change to work tasks and the work environment.
  • Able to identify issues, problems and opportunities, make timely decisions, develop appropriate and innovative solutions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to convey information and detail to overseas Support Office.
  • Demonstrate initiative and a willingness to learn and continuously improve on performance.
  • Able to work on multiple projects of various size and complexity.
  • Able to work effectively in a small multi-disciplinary team located on site
