Job Description:
Our client, an exploration and mining company with projects in West Africa, is seeking an experienced Senior Exploration Geologist who is a registered Competent Person to provide technical oversight and sign-off support across a portfolio of exploration assets.
The role will focus on geological interpretation, exploration programme review, resource evaluation, and Competent Person sign-off activities for projects involving rare earth elements, copper, lead-zinc, and tin.
The successful candidate will work remotely on a part-time basis while supporting in-country technical teams and management in building and developing on-site geological capabilities, implementing exploration methodologies and reporting standards, and establishing best-practice exploration processes and systems.
Responsibilities:
- Provide Competent Person oversight and sign-off support for exploration and mineral resource reporting activities.
- Review and interpret geological, geochemical, and drilling data across multiple projects.
- Support exploration targeting, programme design, and resource evaluation activities.
- Oversee QA/QC procedures, data validation, and geological database reviews.
- Review and contribute to technical reports, Mineral Resource estimates, and public disclosures in line with recognised reporting codes.
- Provide technical guidance to exploration teams and management on geological and resource matters.
- Ensure compliance with industry best practices and international reporting standards.
- Support stakeholder engagement with consultants, laboratories, and technical service providers as required.
- Building on-site geological capabilities and implementing best-practice exploration processes, methodologies, and reporting standards.
- Participate in periodic site visits to West African exploration projects as required.
Requirements: Qualification and Skill
- Bachelor’s Degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, or a related discipline.
- Professional registration with a recognised geological or mining professional body.
- Competent Person status with the ability to sign off on exploration results and Mineral Resource statements.
- 10+ years’ exploration geology experience within the mining industry, with demonstrated experience with rare earth elements, copper, lead-zinc, and tin.
- Strong understanding of mineral resource estimation, geological modelling, and reporting standards.
- Experience reviewing drilling programs, QA/QC protocols, and geological databases.
- Strong technical reporting, analytical, and geological interpretation skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote, part-time capacity.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Willingness and ability to travel periodically to project sites within West Africa.
Contractual Information:
- Part-time contract role.
