What you’ll do:
Based in Brisbane, the Senior Financial Analyst – Eastern Australia is responsible for delivering high-quality operational financial information and analysis to Departmental and Area Managers across the Eastern Australia Production Operations assets.
You’ll work closely with the broader Finance team to support the Financial Controller Production Operations by ensuring financial performance is clearly understood, budgets and forecasts align with operational plans, and the financial impacts of key business decisions and cost drivers are effectively assessed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide business partnering and decision-support to Departmental and Area Managers, helping drive operational and strategic outcomes while contributing to a culture of continuous improvement and high performance.
- Support the Financial Controller – Production Operations, Senior Finance Manager, and GM Finance & Information Systems with reporting, demand-driven analysis, and guidance to other Analysts on financial processes.
- Prepare, review, and analyse monthly reporting packs, budgets, quarterly forecasts, and performance commentary, including trends, key drivers, and business performance against targets.
- Contribute to cost-reduction and value-creation strategies, support Joint Venture reporting, and participate in projects to improve financial decision-making processes and systems.
- Perform month-end accounting activities, including journal preparation, result reviews, reconciliations, and integrity checks prior to ledger close, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial records.
- Provide asset-specific financial analysis and commentary for the monthly Asset Performance Review (APR) and contribute to half-year and year-end reporting requirements.
- Ensure compliance with Santos policies, accounting standards, the Management System (SMS), Delegation of Authority (DOA), and corporate governance and safety requirements.
- Provide support for audit queries and maintain accuracy, transparency, and integrity in all financial reporting.
What you’ll bring:
Essential
- Extensive financial experience, including senior-level exposure.
- Proven experience in business partnering with management across multiple disciplines.
- Strong accounting, and analytical skills.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and SAP ERP systems, intermediate proficiency in PowerPoint and other MS Office applications
- Excellent communication, problem solving and attention to detail capabilities.
- CA / CPA qualified with a bachelor’s degree in business, Commerce, Accounting, or related field.
Desirable
- Experience in the resources industry
- Experience in Joint Venture preferred.
