ExxonMobil is seeking qualified and experienced individuals to provide to provide technical leadership in the area of flow assurance with specific focus on inorganic scale management. The candidate will be responsible for working within interdisciplinary teams on developing solutions for global projects and operating assets in managing flow assurance challenges associated with inorganic scales in oil and gas fields.
This position will be based in Houston, TX.
Provide guidance on sample collection (e.g. Drill Stem Test, Surface Sampling) and review reports ensuring representative samples are obtained to improve quality of water and production fluid composition
Perform Scale Assessments to identify formation potentials using thermodynamic modeling software
Provides recommendation for treatment methods (e.g. continuous injection, scale squeeze), surveillance, and remediation alternatives
Collaborate with project teams and Oil-Field Chemical vendors on chemical selection programs and ensure chemical/material compatibility in specific applications
Develop details for business support plans including definition of tasks to be accomplished, schedule, resources required, and budget
Enhance business performance through development of surveillance tools to monitor produced water chemistry trends and determine required scale treatment frequencies
Influence research directions related to scale management
Represent ExxonMobil in interactions with key competitors, partners, joint ventures, NOCs, industry associations, academia, and industry forums
Participate and advise in Oil-Field Chemical tenders and bidding for global assets, interface with chemical suppliers to coordinate technical qualification and testing of products, and provide detailed chemistry consulting to management on proposed chemical suites
Act as advisor and mentor/guide for less experienced Flow Assurance Engineers globally, particularly in the areas of scale management, water quality, and production chemistry
Coordinates training in the area of inorganic scale management
Steward and revise Flow Assurance design/selection guides, software, and tools
Sustain and promote ExxonMobil’s safety culture
Education: Advanced Degree (PhD preferred) in Materials Science, Inorganic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or Chemical Engineering
5-15 years’ relevant engineering work experience in inorganic scale for the oil and gas
Deep understanding of scale types and formation mechanisms in oil and gas
Knowledgeable in Scale Prediction and Design Strategies. Formal training and demonstrated work experience with OLI ScaleChem or Rice ScaleSoftPitzer software required.
Knowledgeable with Scale Control and Remediation Techniques
Familiar with Scale Inhibitor Laboratory Evaluation Techniques to support chemical screening and selection process
Aware of capabilities and limitations of scale inhibitors
High level of written and verbal communication for both training and updates of technical work. Ability to effectively engage and collaborate with people with diverse skill-sets and backgrounds
Willingness and ability to travel internationally
