About the Role
The primary objective of this role is to lead the PNG Financial Planning and Reporting team in delivering comprehensive budgets, precise forecasts, and high-quality financial reports, ensuring data integrity and actionable insights.
This role is pivotal in supporting the PNG Asset’s strategic and operational goals by providing robust analytics and fostering collaboration with key stakeholders, including the VP PNG Operations, PNG leadership team, Senior Finance Manager, joint venture partners, regulatory authorities, and the Santos centre.
Through strong leadership and financial stewardship, this position drives informed decision-making and ensures alignment with organisational priorities.
Key accountabilities include:
- Financial Reporting Leadership: Coordinate and lead the financial reporting cycles, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting, ensuring timely and accurate consolidation of PNG asset results and commentary.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Oversee the preparation and presentation of PNG business budgets, forecasts, and Management Information, ensuring high-quality insights for decision-making.
- Quality Assurance: Review outputs from Finance Business Partners to ensure accuracy, completeness, and quality of financial analysis and reporting.
- Data Integrity and Allocations Expertise: Serve as the subject matter expert for data and allocations, managing controls and logic to ensure accurate cost recovery from Joint Venture partners.
- Process Improvement: Drive initiatives to enhance the quality and timeliness of financial data and analytics across the organisation.
- Tool Development and Optimisation: Lead the development and enhancement of reporting tools, such as Power BI, to support budgeting, forecasting, and reporting requirements effectively.
About You
Professional Experience
Essential experience required for this position includes:
- A minimum of 10 years appropriately related work experience.
- Experience with the design and preparation of group-level performance reporting and providing insightful analysis.
- Experience in recommending and implementing process improvements relating to systems and reporting.
- A working knowledge of the Oil & Gas or Mining Industries.
Technical Competencies
- Advanced knowledge with MS Excel, SAP and Power BI.
- Intermediate MS Office (Powerpoint) applications.
- Excellent communication, analytical skills and proven attention to detail.
- Strong accounting skills required.
Qualifications
Essential qualifications for this position are:
- CA / CPA qualified, with minimum of 10 years work experience.
- Business / Commerce Degree.
Your experience in leading small teams, collaborating with senior leaders and external stakeholders, combined with strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision, is key to enable you to thrive in deadline-driven environments.
