Senior I&C Engineer


Airswift is looking for a Senior I&C Engineer to work for a major LNG Client in Houston, TX, for an initial 1-year assignment.

The role involves providing technical assurance and guidance for all Instrumentation, Control, and Telecommunications systems throughout the development phases of LNG, net-zero infrastructure, and renewable projects undertaken by Sempra Infrastructure (SI).


  • Functional Support: Work within the Engineering and Construction department, supporting multiple projects and the Owner’s team. Responsibilities include supporting the Chief I&C Engineer, reviewing and developing standards, and offering discipline support.

  • Project Review: Audit EPC’s designs, ensuring compliance with project specifications, regulations, and industry standards. Participate in engineering review meetings such as HAZOPs, LOPAs, P&IDs, Alarm rationalizations, and 3D model reviews.

  • Travel: Occasionally travel for inspections, FATs, project audits, or to provide support during construction, commissioning, and start-up.

Duties and Responsibilities Breakdown:

  1. Functional Support (10%): Develop engineering deliverables, review technical specifications, and provide support to dedicated I&C project teams.

  2. Design Audit (20%): Audit EPC’s designs related to telecommunication, instrumentation, and control systems, including vendor packages.

  3. Calculation and Reviews (30%): Review or perform control valve sizing calculations, PSV sizing calculations, and participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and Factory Acceptance Tests.

  4. On-site Activities (15%): Work on various on-site assignments, supporting engineering, construction, Q&A, commissioning, and start-up groups.

  5. Project Leadership (5%): Occasionally lead I&C and Telecommunication disciplines of a project.

  6. Special Studies and Reports (5%): Participate in or lead special technical studies and reports as requested.

Fiscal/Budget Responsibilities:

  • No more than 5% of duties.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or similar (Required).
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics, Electrical, and/or Process with at least three years of field construction experience (Preferred).


  • 8+ years in the Liquefaction LNG Industry (Required).
  • Subject matter expert for all instrumentation (Required).
  • Experience in Gas Chromatographs and Analyzers (Required).
  • Experience in control engineering and with control systems used in Sempra Infrastructure projects (Preferred).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in I&C engineering principles/techniques.
  • Advanced technical knowledge in designing and specifying telecommunications, control systems, and instrumentation.
  • Working knowledge of project development, P&ID’s, PFD’s, controls systems, and industry codes and standards.
  • Knowledge in Gas Chromatographs, CEMS, valve sizing calculations.
  • Basic knowledge of the life cycle of an LNG project, project management, and execution process.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
