What you’ll do:
Based in Brisbane, this role is responsible for leading Land Access contract negotiations for the Onshore Development business and supporting the Team Leader to deliver commercially robust, compliant and strategically aligned outcomes. The role requires strong negotiation capability, sound judgement and the ability to manage complex stakeholder environments to secure long-term agreements that enable development and operational success.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead end-to-end Land Access contract negotiations with titleholders and their legal representatives
- Contribute to and execute negotiation strategies that maximise opportunity and mitigate risk
- Develop and forecast negotiation budgets (CAPEX and OPEX), including Net Present Value assessments
- Quantify commercial value, compensation outcomes and associated risk exposure
- Draft and finalise legally binding Land Access Agreements in accordance with relevant legislation and delegated authority
- Negotiate contract terms that optimise development and operational outcomes
- Participate in mediation and alternate dispute resolution processes, including preparation of mediation materials
- Build and maintain strong internal and external stakeholder relationships, influencing positive outcomes
- Provide technical guidance, mentoring and peer support within the team
- Contribute to continuous improvement of negotiation frameworks, governance and risk management practices
What you’ll bring:
We are seeking a highly motivated and collaborative professional with exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills. You will bring strong organisational capability, sound judgement, and the ability to influence outcomes while building and maintaining positive working relationships across a diverse range of stakeholders, along with:
- Strong communication skills with the ability to confidently engage and address external stakeholders
- Demonstrated business planning skills, including high attention to detail, prioritisation, and management of critical path milestones
- High-level negotiation capability with the ability to influence outcomes
- Strong computing skills and the ability to effectively utilise support systems
- High proficiency in civil, pipeline and construction methodology
- Petroleum industry experience is preferential
- Sound understanding of land valuation, land management and land tenure principles as well as rural communities, rural land practices and the agricultural sector highly advantageous
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline or equivalent relevant work experience
- Advanced Commercial Negotiation and Project Management qualifications would be highly regarded
