The position

By joining our team in Marketing, Midstream & Processing you will have the opportunity to:

  • Operate, schedule and optimize clean and dirty vessel tanker operations in compliance with Equinor’s shipping policy and procedures and Charter Party requirements. 
  • Manage close communication with charterers, cargo operator, owners, brokers and agents to ensure efficient ship operation e.g. instructions,operational and logistical planning including agent nominations, vessel clearance and documentations etc. 
  • Collaborate with Equinor’s shipping headquarters to ensure standardisation and global operating procedures are adhered to. 
  • Contribute to value add, commercial optimization, improvements processes and best practices to support our shipping activities. 
  • Be responsible for proper documentation, correct and timely inputs of operational information into relevant IT systems  
  • Participate in the Duty phone setup on rotation. 

As our Senior Commercial Shipping Operator, you will be working with; oil tankers, ship owners, terminals, customers, agents and more, covering logistics and transportation of oil cargoes worldwide, in close co-operation with our traders, charterers and other operational units. We perform our operations in a dynamic, global set-up with operational teams in Norway, Singapore, UK and US. In this role you will become a is a member of the Asian operational team with the responsibility of supporting the West to East arbitrage and regional shipping activities for the bench.

  • Relevant experience in ship operations from the tanker segment including STS operations and other related ship operator’s responsibilities. 
  • 5 to 10 years seafaring experience as Chief Officer or Master is preferred. 
  • Seagoing and operational experience from VLCC, Suezmax, LR1, LR2, MRs, LPG refrigerated, and pressurized vessels is preferable. 
  • It is expected that the right candidate is motivated and encouraged to take lead, challenge- and improve best practices to support our trading strategy, and to advise and support other colleagues in the operation team. 
  • Preferably strong experience from East of Suez incl. the Asian markets and China based receivers. 
  • Strong IT skills. Knowledge of IMOS voyage handling system is preferable or be willing to become an IMOS superuser. 
  • Bachelor or master’s degree in Maritime, Economics, Logistics or related disciplines. Prior experience from trading operations from an Oil, Trading or a shipping company is an advantage.
