What you’ll do:

This role ensures safe, reliable production, and builds the national team’s skills through fast engineering support, continuous improvement, acting as a B2B High Voltage Permit Authority, mentoring and targeted training.

***This is a 2-year max term contract opportunity based in Iagifu Ridge, Papua New Guinea. The role operates on a 28/28 roster flying out of Brisbane airport***

Key accountabilities include:

  • Identify and justify production growth and defence initiatives using value and risk-based approaches.
  • Raise and own engineering management of change (MOC) items and approving changes as a discipline reviewer (if assigned TA status).
  • Participate in technical audits, compliance assessments, and follow up on remedial actions, focusing on hazardous area design, work management, instrument calibration, and installation practices.
  • Collaborate with vendors and consultants for ongoing maintenance, testing, and equipment upgrades.
  • Provide technical expertise and governance to ensure compliance with electrical and hazardous area regulations.
  • Promote safety culture among contractors, test machinery, and enforce company HSE and security policies to mitigate risks and maintain a safe work environment.

What you’ll bring:

We are looking for a strategic thinking who can review and interpret electrical procedures, E&I drawings, and engineering changes as a discipline reviewer. Your high level of integrity and professionalism and ability to manage complex projects is key, along with:

  • HVIA competency to act as High Voltage Permit Authority onsite, with expertise in HV/LV equipment, isolations, diagnostic tools, and power system analysis.
  • Aptitude for teaching and mentoring, a key performance indicator.
  • Hands-on experience combined with analytical skills to solve complex E&I equipment issues.
  • Knowledge of reliability-based processes (RCM, PMO, root cause analysis) and maintenance management systems.
  • Familiarity with operation and maintenance of O&G industry E&I equipment (motors, MCC, transformers).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Instrumentation & Control Engineering.
  • Registered IEPNG member (or willingness to apply) and preferably a current PNG driver’s licence.
  • Chartered Engineer status or ability to achieve it within a reasonable timeframe.

Desired experience would include familiarity with control systems, risk management systems, and instrumentation (i.e. pressure, temperature, level, flow, and pneumatic).

What you’ll get:

Here, you’ll be amongst high-calibre people and get to work on industry-leading projects. We don’t shy away from solving tough problems at pace. We like it that way. You can expect to be challenged and supported; to learn and grow.
