About the Role
Ably Resources is supporting a major energy organisation in Qatar in the appointment of a Senior Treasury Analyst (Back Office) to join its Corporate Finance & Controls function. This is a senior, high-impact role with responsibility for treasury operations, accounting, settlements, governance, and audit coordination across a complex group structure.
The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the secure execution of treasury transactions, compliance with IFRS standards, and the integrity of treasury reporting and controls, while acting as a key interface with internal and external auditors, banks, and financial institutions.
This position offers the opportunity to work within a large, sophisticated treasury environment with exposure to funding, investments, bonds, guarantees, loans, and derivative instruments.
Key Responsibilities
Treasury Operations & Settlements
- Oversee and supervise treasury back-office operations, including cash movements, inter-bank transfers, and settlement of treasury financings and deals.
- Ensure all payments and settlements are fully authorised, accurately processed, and executed in line with governance frameworks and approval matrices.
- Review and endorse high-value payment requests prior to senior management approval.
Treasury Accounting & Reporting
- Supervise treasury accounting activities covering cash, loans, investments, borrowings, bonds, swaps, and other financial instruments.
- Ensure treasury accounting and reporting are fully compliant with IFRS and internal financial policies.
- Maintain accuracy and integrity of treasury-related general ledger data within SAP.
Systems, Controls & Process Improvement
- Oversee bank statement uploads, reconciliations, clearing of outstanding items, and KPI/dashboard reporting within agreed turnaround times.
- Maintain and manage treasury and banking master data in SAP, including new company set-ups, banking relationships, and counterparties.
- Contribute to treasury automation initiatives and continuous process improvements to strengthen controls and reduce operational risk.
Audit, Compliance & Risk
- Act as the primary focal point for internal and external audits relating to treasury activities.
- Ensure compliance with approved treasury policies, procedures, and banking regulations.
- Support business continuity planning for treasury operations, including contingency arrangements for system outages or unforeseen events.
Investment Oversight
- Review and report on the performance of the organisation’s equity and debt investment portfolios, both domestic and international.
Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Manage and develop a small team of treasury professionals, providing leadership, coaching, and performance oversight.
- Represent the organisation in dealings with banks, financial institutions, regulators, and other key external stakeholders.
Candidate Profile
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related discipline.
- Professional qualifications such as CPA, CA, CMA, or equivalent are highly desirable.
Experience
- 10–15 years’ experience within treasury, finance, or accounting in a medium to large organisation.
- Experience within the energy or oil & gas sector is advantageous.
- Strong exposure to treasury instruments, banking operations, settlements, and financial reporting.
Technical Skills
- Advanced experience working with SAP (TRM or similar ERP systems).
- Strong proficiency in MS Office and financial reporting tools, including Power BI.
- Solid understanding of treasury controls, governance frameworks, and financial risk management.

- Highly detail-oriented with sound judgement and decision-making skills.
- Confident communicator, comfortable engaging with senior internal and external stakeholders.
- Able to operate effectively in a high-accountability treasury environment.
