Santos

At Santos, we do work that matters and always have. When you join us, so will you.

As an ASX 20 global energy company, we’re committed to providing reliable and affordable energy to help create a better world for everyone.

To make it happen, we work as One Team and ask ourselves, “How can we?” (Even when others say, “We can’t.”)

We’re proud of our history as pioneers, problem-solvers, and pragmatists. And as we strive to achieve our Vision2040, we’ve got our sights set on a culture that is focussed and disciplined to drive value, and entrepreneurial and energised to leave a positive legacy.

The difference isn’t just thinking big – it’s delivering on it too.

As part of the team, you’ll tackle one of the most complex problems of our time. It’s no easy task, but nothing rewarding ever is.

What you’ll do:

We’re looking for a proactive and detail-driven Site Access and Approvals Adviser to support our Onshore CSG Development team. In this role, you’ll provide expert planning and approvals advice, ensuring all internal and external permits are identified, tracked, and secured in line with project schedules. You’ll play a key role across four focus areas—approval management, schedule support, stakeholder engagement, and optimisation—working to resolve potential delays and streamline approvals processes.

You’ll collaborate with a wide range of internal teams to deliver high-quality approvals that enable successful project execution. This role also involves driving process improvements, reducing approvals burden and costs, and ensuring compliance with corporate governance, safety, and regulatory frameworks.

This is a 6 month Max term contract opportunity, with the possibility of longer term extension.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring all internal and external permits and approvals required in authorising Development works are identified and secured in accordance with program schedule and in collaboration with relevant functional teams.
  • Tracking application, submission and receipt of all permits and approvals required for Development projects from Concept through to Commissioning including Land Access, Cultural Heritage, Environmental and 3rd Party approvals.
  • Proactively resolving potential or actual schedule delays in securing permits and approvals.
  • Working with relevant business disciplines to refine and progress required approvals.
  • Communicating and coordinating approvals deliverables with relevant functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Giving and receiving clear and effective communication, share knowledge within and across team and give and receive feedback as per guidelines and business requirements.

What you’ll bring:

This role requires proven experience in planning, approvals, and permits within the resources industry, including management of statutory approvals across the complete project lifecycle. Your strong communication skills to effectively engage with both internal and external stakeholders is paramount. Ideally, candidates will hold a tertiary qualification in Planning, Environmental Sciences, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Engineering or equivalent, with demonstrated post-graduate experience in environmental services to the petroleum and gas sector.

If you’re passionate about enabling impactful energy projects and thrive in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment, we’d love to hear from you.

What you’ll get:

Here, you’ll be amongst high-calibre people and get to work on industry-leading projects. We don’t shy away from solving tough problems at pace. We like it that way. You can expect to be challenged and supported; to learn and grow.

At Santos, we’re committed to creating a workplace where everyone can thrive. This means a place that is safe; where you are valued and respected, and your contribution is recognised and appreciated. Join us, and you’ll play a role in this too.

Each of our sites offer access to specific amenities that aim to create the best possible benefits to your health, wellbeing and performance. This includes Onsite Gym facilities, Onsite GP services and many more employee benefits

What you’re part of:

Everywhere you turn you will be a part of a team who are coming together to contribute to our single uniting purpose – to provide reliable and affordable energy to help create a better world for everyone

And because it’s not only what you do, but how you do it, you will also contribute to improving the living standards of the communities where we operate, building enduring and respectful relationships that serve a generation. It’s about each of us, and all of us – together.
