Job Title : Material Management Co-ordinator

Reports: Procurement Manager

Subordinates: Material equipment inspectors, expediters

1- Job Purpose:

To manage the delivery of critical company-procured equipment and materials assuring that they meet contractual quality specifications and project delivery requirements. To manage the material tracking, delivery and storage process.

2- Main Responsibilities:

  • Procured material and equipment compliance with contractual technical specifications and project/contract delivery requirements

3- Key Activities :

  • Supporting purchasers in the definition of material and equipment procurement plan
  • Kick-off meeting with suppliers participation
  • Monitoring supplies highlighting any possible deviations from contractual technical specifications and schedule taking immediate actions to solve anomalies
  • Inspectors/expediters coordination
  • Material and equipment expediting
  • Material and equipment reports preparation
  • Material and equipment release for payment
  • Monitoring material and equipment shipment in order to assure delivery according to project requirements
  • Providing to purchasing department all the necessary information to define and manage contract penalties (if any)

3- Main Internal Interfaces :

  • Project engineers
  • Logistic specialist

4- Main External Interfaces :

  • Material and equipment suppliers
  • Contractors

5 – Qualification & Experience :


  • Secondary Level Technical Education
  • Engineering degree preferred

Training & Courses:

  • Negotiation basic course

Languages :

  • Fluent knowledge of English
  • Intermediate knowledge of the local language preferred

Required Experience :

  • 7 years of Oil & Gas Industry experience
  • 5 years of material management experience

Required Knowledge, Technical or Professional Skills:

  • E&P Management (Generic)
  • E&P SW Use & test (Generic)
  • Economics General (Generic)
  • Contracting (Generic)
  • Specialist Knowledge: Engineering knowledge in the specialist activity
  • Organisation Processes: Company Corporate organization,  Internal Standard, Project Management process, Work team management methodology, “Internal client” organization process, Documentation management, Site Management, Site Materials and equipment organization, Project Procurement Management, Contracting Strategy, Contract Management
