We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of HSE Specialist in our US Onshore Resources & Carbon Management (ORCM), HSE Business Unit based in Midland, Texas.

 

This position is responsible to work with the ORCM Business Units (BU) to ensure implementation of contractor safety performance in the business units. Use of the OOG developed processes and tools to maintain contractor safety and compliance. Assist with training safety champions in roles and responsibilities and the scorecard process.

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

Contractor Field Assessment (CFA)

  • Complete contractor field assessment on contractors identified that need one.

  • Monitor ISNetworld scores to determine contractors in need of a field audit.

  • Extrapolate data to identify deficient contractors.

 

Safety Engagement and Management Process (SEMP)

  • Assist operations champions with understanding the SEMP program and their role in it.

  • Train all new contractors over goals, roles, and responsibilities of the SEMP program.

  • Effectively communicate monthly results of SEMP Performance to HSE/Ops Leadership.

  • Plan and set up annual SEMP Contractor Forum

 

Contractor Champion Process

  • Verify the effectiveness of each assigned contractor champion.

  • Coach and provide feedback to champions for a more effective evaluation of their contractors.

 

Contractor Safety Meetings

  • Organize and MC Quarterly contractor safety meetings. (Over 100+ in attendance)

  • Extrapolate safety data (BBS, Incident Trends, etc.) to help create quarterly presentations and safety topics.

  • Design PowerPoint to align with company HSE Performance and HSE Goals.

  • Create innovative interactions for audience to participate in Contractor Safety Meetings.

 

Better Mousetrap Idea

  • Collect monthly BMI submitted for the month and present to BMT committee to determine the winner(s).

  • Develop slide(s) to provide to contractors and upload to OXY Knowledge Bank

 

 

Contractor Automated Observations

  • Collaborate with Analytics Engineers in updating/maintaining Oxy’s weekly contractor observations report.

  • Ability to think of ways to transform data into viewable graphs and communicate these ideas effectively to Analytics Engineers.

 

Contractor Safety Management Team Assist

Willing to help on projects when needed:

  • Managing or assisting with contractor’s data from Oxy’s TPS Alert and contractors that are not in compliance.

  • Managing or assisting with contract renewals

  • Conduct audits on new and existing contractors

Qualifications

 

Education & Experience:

  • HS Diploma or GED required. A Bachelor’s degree in safety, health, environmental, fire protection, or related discipline is preferred

  • 3 years’ experience in oil and gas / HSE-related field; 

 

Skills & Competencies:

  • Demonstrates a thorough working knowledge of HSE activities including, but not limited to, confined space entry, hot work, and lock-out/tag-out

  • Effective interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to influence behaviors to create a safer working environment

  • Provides HSE training and support for field personnel in addition to third party contractors

  • Clear and effective communication skills (written and verbal)

  • Team oriented, flexible and able to work with minimal supervision

  • Willingness and ability to learn and take on more complex tasks

  • Excellent self-starter who can work with minimal supervision
