Position Summary
This position will assist in supporting all aspects of compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley requirement, as well as participate in process improvement projects.
A successful candidate will use this time to establish a sound understanding of the Company and the E&P industry. This position requires a team player with a sound understanding of accounting and controls, communication, and computer skills; high standards of excellence and attention to detail; and the willingness/flexibility to work through peak work cycles.
Roles & Responsibilities
Primary responsibility is Sarbanes-Oxley 404 Compliance, which includes the following:
- Evaluating financial processes and controls and developing detailed test plans.
- Coordinating internal control testing and walkthroughs; conducting testing and walkthroughs of significant areas; reviewing walkthrough and testing documentation prepared by others.
- Evaluating test results and control deficiencies on the control environment and financial statements and determining an action plan for remediation, as appropriate.
- Identifying and evaluating changes to processes and controls; coordinating with Process Owners for revised documentation and update test plans as appropriate.
- Assisting Management in developing risk assessment and testing strategy.
- Interacting with Management, Process Owners, Internal Audit and External Auditors.
- Participating in process improvement projects.
- Willing to travel up to 10%, both domestically and internationally.
Qualifications
Experience
- 5+ years auditing or industry accounting experience
- Preferably working knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley requirements
- Preferably E&P Oil & Gas industry experience
Other requirements
- Ability to work with and understand E&P financial operations is essential
- Understanding of complex integrated business and financial systems
- Strong computer skills, including SAP, Microsoft Excel, Adobe Acrobat Pro
- Team oriented individual that can work independently or facilitate team meetings
- Ability to adapt quickly in a fast paced changing environment
- Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively with all levels; good team player; ability to exhibit energy, enthusiasm, and a positive outlook
- Attention to detail and commitment to functional excellence
- Strong verbal and writing communication skills
Education, Training & Certifications
- BBA/BS required, preferably in Accounting, Auditing or Finance
