Job Description:

Our client is seeking a skilled Superintendent Commodity to join their supply chain unit team in South Africa. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing commodities and procurement strategies within the mining supply chain. This includes supplier relationship management, tender processes, contract negotiation, and ensuring cost-effective sourcing strategies to support operational efficiency.

Responsibilities:

• Act as the interface between suppliers and business stakeholders, providing expert advice on commodity management.
• Develop and implement commodity strategies in line with business objectives.
• Manage supplier and customer relationships, addressing complaints and ensuring service excellence.
• Drive sourcing strategies to achieve the lowest possible total cost of ownership for materials and equipment.
• Analyse procurement trends, value chains, and cost drivers to identify improvements and cost savings.
• Oversee tender processes including scope development, tender pack compilation, evaluation, adjudication, and supplier recommendations.
• Draft, review, and administer sourcing contracts and agreements.
• Monitor and manage supplier performance, price adjustments, and contract amendments.
• Support budgeting, project planning, and cost control processes.
• Transfer best practices and ensure continuous improvement of commodity strategies.

Requirements: Qualification and Skill

• Minimum: NQF 6 (Diploma/Advanced Certificate in Supply Chain).
• Preferred: NQF 7 (Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma in Supply Chain).
• Minimum 6 years’ supply chain or commercial experience, including at least 4 years in commodity management or procurement within the mining industry.
• Strong knowledge of SAP MM.
• Experience with Coupa Sourcing and contract management system (advantageous).
• Experience in transport procurement and contracts management (preferred).
• Medically fit for the mining operational environment.
• Clear security screening record.
