What you’ll do:

Based in Moro, Southern Highlands Province, you will serve as the Team Leader – Aviation, supporting the Manager Aviation, EA, and PNG, while working closely with the management of Santos’ Aviation Operations in PNG.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

Fixed-wing and rotary-wing operations, including charter, company-owned aircraft, and regular public transport.

Aerodrome and helicopter landing site operations

Emergency response (ER) and Search and Rescue (SAR) capabilities

Security flights coordination

Reporting and compliance in alignment with company values and the Santos Management System.

This is a FIFO position offered on a 28/28 roster. We are open to expatriate applications with a point of hire Brisbane airport.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Assist in identifying, assessing, and monitoring aviation-related risks across Papua New Guinea operations.
  • Manage and support implementation of risk control measures and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to Papua New Guinean teams to support safe and efficient operations.
  • Assist with oversight of regional aviation activities, including helicopter operations, aerodrome and heli-base management, fixed-wing charter, and Regular Public Transport (RPT) services.
  • Support the establishment and coordination of Level 1 and Level 2 assurance activities and compliance programs.
  • Monitor contractor performance against service level agreements and contract scopes.
  • Support the Aviation Manager EA/PNG with designing and optimising aviation solutions and developing aviation contracting and commercial strategies
  • Provide aviation subject matter input during major incident and emergency response scenarios.

What you’ll bring:

Your proven experience in aviation operations including onshore/offshore aviation support, Emergency response and SAR, CASA key personnel responsibilities under AOC/MRO frameworks are essential. 

You will have knowledge of Civil Aviation Safety Regulations, IOGP standards, IATA/ICAO frameworks, SMS, risk assessment, incident investigation, and operational auditing. 

Your ability to travel domestically and internationally, including remote locations is required and you must meet CASA “fit and proper person” criteria.

Ideally you will also have:

  • Experience managing aviation operations in remote or complex environments
  • Aviation safety, quality, and risk management experience
  • Involvement in fixed-wing charter or multi-modal logistics planning
  • Knowledge of RPAS integration
  • Degree or diploma in aviation, engineering, or safety (or equivalent)
  • LAME or ATPL license
  • Certified or trained safety/aviation auditor (ISO 9001)
  • Certified or trained safety/aviation investigator (ICAM, NTSB)
