Job Description: Surface Well Testing – (UAE)

Position Title: Surface Well Testing Operator/ Specialist / Field Engineer
Location: UAE (Abu Dhabi / Dubai / Onshore & Offshore)
Employment Type: Full-time, Rotation-Based (Onshore/Offshore)

Role Overview

The Surface Well Testing Specialist is responsible for planning, executing, and supervising well testing operations onshore and offshore. The role involves operating and maintaining test equipment, ensuring service quality, providing well test data interpretation support, and maintaining strict adherence to safety and operational standards.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Execution

• Perform rig-up, rig-down, pressure testing, and operation of surface well testing equipment, including:

• Test separators
• Choke manifolds
• Surge tanks
• Multiphasic measurement systems
• Burner booms
• Sand management systems

• Execute well flow operations including clean-up, flowback, build-up, and sampling.
• Ensure accurate data recording, monitoring, and reporting of well performance parameters.
• Conduct real-time troubleshooting of well testing systems and operational issues.

Safety & Compliance

• Lead and participate in HSE meetings, risk assessments, and toolbox talks.
• Ensure all operations comply with safety standards and client requirements.
• Maintain proper certifications for offshore/onshore operation (BOSIET, H2S, medical, etc.).

Equipment Management

• Maintain and inspect equipment according to maintenance procedures.
• Ensure proper documentation of equipment status, failures, and repairs.
• Manage inventory of spare parts and consumables for well testing packages.

Client Interaction & Reporting

• Work closely with the client company man, wellsite leaders, and coordinators.
• Provide clear operational updates and ensure alignment with the test program.
• Deliver daily job reports, well test summaries, and data logs.

Qualifications & Experience

Required

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Petroleum, or related engineering discipline.
• 2–8 years of experience in surface well testing operations (onshore and/or offshore).
• Solid understanding of pressure control equipment and well testing processes.
• Experience with standard well test equipment and surface flow systems.
• Valid offshore certifications (BOSIET/FOET, H2S, medical).
• Strong troubleshooting and mechanical aptitude.

Preferred

• Experience with major service companies.
• Familiarity with:

• Early production facilities (EPF)
• Sand management
• MPFM (multiphase flowmeter) systems
• Burner management

• Knowledge of data acquisition systems.
• IWCF Level 1 or 2 (advantage)
