Job Description:

Our client, a major mining organisation operating a large-scale copper mining operation in Africa, is seeking an experienced Training and Organisational Development Superintendent to lead the establishment and operationalisation of a world-class Training Centre at a remote mine site. The successful candidate will play a critical role in supporting a major mine expansion project by ensuring the timely onboarding, upskilling and workforce readiness. This role requires strong leadership in learning and development, training strategy execution, regulatory compliance and organisational capability building within a mining environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the establishment, accreditation and operationalisation of a world-class Training Centre aligned with mining expansion workforce requirements.
  • Develop and implement training and organisational development strategies to support large-scale onboarding and upskilling initiatives.
  • Coordinate and validate Training Needs Analyses (TNA) and Skills Gap Assessments in collaboration with operations and line management.
  • Develop departmental training plans and Individual Development Plans (IDPs) aligned with approved training matrices and project skill requirements.
  • Design and deliver targeted learning interventions, including internal trainer development programs to reduce reliance on external providers.
  • Track and report on Return on Investment (ROI) for all training initiatives.
  • Maintain regulatory compliance and accreditation through ongoing engagement with BQA, HRDC, and relevant authorities.
  • Develop, implement, and report on the Training, Development, and Localisation Plan in support of nationalisation objectives.

Qualification and Skill:

  • Degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Education, Organisational Development, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 8–10 years’ experience in Training and Organisational Development, preferably within the mining sector.
  • Accreditation as a Trainer and Assessor is mandatory.
  • Proven experience in establishing or leading a training academy, training school, or structured learning and development function.
  • Strong project management skills with experience delivering large-scale training initiatives.
