Our client is seeking an experienced Underground Mine Superintendent to lead the safe, productive and efficient execution of underground hard-rock mining operations. Reporting to the Project Manager, the successful candidate will translate mine plans into operational execution while leading supervisors, coordinating resources and driving production and development performance. The role carries significant responsibility for underground safety, operational discipline, workforce capability and cost performance. The successful candidate will work closely with Technical Services, Maintenance and other operational functions to achieve monthly and annual production targets. Strong experience in underground hard -rock mining, operational leadership and contractor environments will be highly advantageous.

 

  • Lead underground mining operations to safely achieve production and development targets.
  • Develop and execute monthly and weekly operational plans with Technical Services.
  • Coordinate labour, equipment, mine services and maintenance resources across working areas.
  • Lead Supervisors and underground personnel, including workforce planning, rostering and development.
  • Drive compliance with ground control, ventilation, explosives and operational management plans.
  • Monitor daily performance, investigate operational constraints and implement corrective actions.
  • Manage operational resources, budgets, costs and contractual performance against agreed KPIs.
  • Maintain effective relationships with the client and provide accurate operational performance reporting.

 

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in underground hard-rock mining.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in frontline underground operational leadership.
  • Proven experience delivering underground production and development targets safely and efficiently.
  • Strong knowledge of underground mining methods, mine planning, drill and blast and ground control.
  • Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary underground mining teams and developing Supervisors.
  • Experience with operational budgets, resource allocation, cost control and contract performance.
  • Mining Engineering or related technical qualification and recognised supervisory/mine management qualification advantageous.
  • Mining contractor, African/ex-patriate and French-language experience will be advantageous.

 

  • Full-time senior management position.
  • FIFO/DIDO site-based position.
  • 6 weeks on / 4 weeks off roster.
  • 12-hour shifts.
  • Underground hard-rock mining environment.
  • Senior operational leadership position reporting directly to the Project Manager.
