Our greatest asset has been and will continue to be our people. Occidental is looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of Vice President of Commercial Sequestration for the 1PointFive Sequestration group in Houston, TX.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the 1PointFive Sequestration Commercial Team and set strategic direction to build the leading position in the CCS space.
- Maintain and grow senior relationships with business contacts in Commercial, Environment Social and Governance (ESG), and Sustainability, and cultivate relationships with potential new customers (industrial sources of emissions).
- Cultivate senior relationships with business contacts at current and future midstream partner companies.
- Play the pivotal role in commercial leadership and work closely with technical, financial, and marketing teams, as well as with the business development and DAC (Direct Air Capture) teams.
- Set direction for the preparation and negotiation of customer contracts and agreements for carbon offtake and sequestration.
- Direct efforts to establish and maintain pricing structures to maximize overall revenue and cash flow.
- Provide insights into and anticipate customer challenges and needs that can be solved by today’s and tomorrow’s offerings.
- Partner with and support the Business on ad hoc strategic and operational initiatives.
- Work effectively with business planning to develop short-mid-long term commercial objectives.
- Maintain regular communication on activity with the technical and sales and marketing team leadership.
- Extensive, senior level experience in a commercial role is required.
- Experience working on tenders and complex offers to clients is desirable.
- Superior analytical, relationship building, strategic thinking and negotiation skills
- Ability to deal with ambiguity and think on the fly
- Ability to coordinate across a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated belief in and commitment to climate change mitigation and broader sustainability objectives.
- Excellent written and oral command of English.
- Persuasive / Professional Communication – communication via phone, email, and when presenting is professional, informative, concise, and takes into consideration all audience members.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or foreign degree equivalent in Business Administration or related field of study.
- 12+ years of commercial experience in a related role such as Business Development, M&A, Banking/Finance and strategy.
- Experience to Commercial Development, Deal Structuring and Negotiations. Direct experience of CCS a strong preference.
- Contract management experience.
- High energy, ability to deal with ambiguity and driven, proactive self-management are needed for this role
