Bakken Overview

The Bakken trend is a sequence of liquids-rich sand and shale layers in the Williston Basin, which stretches across western North Dakota and into Canada. The company’s position in the Bakken development area is comprised of approximately 560,000 net acres, which include 382,000 net mineral acres and 178,000 net leasehold acres. The company focuses on unconventional tight-oil play development and production in the most prolific portion of the basin.

During 2022, net production averaged 95 MBOED. There were 43 operated wells brought online during 2022, bringing the total to more than 800 operated wells online at year-end.

Description

If you are selected as the Well Intervention Supervisor, you will be coordinating and directly managing the safe and efficient implementation of Well Intervention activities for the company’s active work program in the Bakken. The Well Intervention Supervisor will be part of the greater Lower 48 Wells Organization supporting the GCR Business Unit and report to the Well Intervention Field Superintendent. The Bakken is a key asset for the company and delivering safe and value adding Well Intervention operations to aid delivering a lower COS is critical to the business.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Providing field-based management of operations including but not limited to well servicing, Wireline, Slickline, Coiled Tubing, Workover operations for unconventional wells ensuring that work is completed in an efficient, technically competent, safe, value adding and environmentally responsible manner
  • Implementing and enforcing ConocoPhillips Health, Safety and Environmental policies through pro-active leadership and coaching of contract personnel
  • Working with Engineers to optimize safe and low-cost completion procedures for well operations
  • Having direct input and responsibility for cost control and ensuring projects stay within budget
  • Managing personnel scheduling to accomplish well intervention operations
  • Leading well handover and scheduling from production operations

Basic/Required:

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
  • Valid Well Control certificate
  • Current/Valid driver’s license
  • 5+ years of experience in the upstream oil and gas industry
  • 5+ years of experience in completions, drilling, and/or well intervention
  • Willing and able (with or without reasonable accommodation) to travel to field locations
  • Willing and able (with or without reasonable accommodation) to work non-routine hours as operations demand

Preferred:

  • 10+ years of completions, drilling, and/or well intervention experience
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience
  • 1+ years of experience using WellView daily reporting system
  • 1+ years of experience in simultaneous operations
  • 1+ years of experience in well servicing and workover operations
  • 1+ years of experience with Mech-Iso well prep operations including hanger systems and cementation
  • 1+ years of experience with Wireline operations such as perforating, downhole tractors, setting/pulling test plugs
  • 1+ years of experience with Slickline operations such as fishing, pull/set gas lift valves, bailing, dump bailing, setting tubing plugs and stops, punching tubing, and paraffin removal
  • 1+ years of experience with plugging and abandoning wells aligning with company and regulatory requirements
  • 1+ years of experience with wellhead flushes to clear sand and debris from production equipment
  • Basic level of proficiency with Microsoft O365 applications: Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams and Word
  • Basic level of proficiency with engineering applications software
  • Basic level of proficiency with SAP accounting system
  • Basic level of knowledge of completion and well servicing equipment systems required for artificial lift, such as gas-lift, ESP, and rod pumps
  • Safety and regulatory training consistent with company standards
  • Commitment to protecting the health and safety of everyone involved in ConocoPhillips Company activities
  • Strong leadership and communication skills complimented with being open to new ideas, leading by example, and the ability to take direction
  • Wellhead and tree removal and installations
  • Well-developed planning and organizing skills
  • Sound business judgment and an innovative problem solver
