Job Description

To succeed in adding electricity and renewable energies, TotalEnergies created a new entity, OneTech, which combines all the corporate departments related to technical issues or R&D at our different segments (Exploration & Production, Refining & Chemical, Marketing & Services and Gas, Renewables & Power). With a 3,400-strong workforce, OneTech will be split into three hubs: an Industrial Hub supporting the Company’s expansion in gas, renewables, electricity and carbon emissions reduction, a Research & Development Hub will pool all of TotalEnergies’ research activities to anticipate the Company’s transformation, by giving priority to the low-carbon mix and a Support Hub

To contribute to the development of innovative solutions and scientific expertise of TotalEnergies, we are looking for a Wind Resource Research Engineer M/F.

The position is located in Saclay (Paris area).

The engineer will be in charge of topics related to wind resource including but not limited to:

  • Site-specific wind effects for locations of interest for TotalEnergies (local phenomena, turbulence intensity, atmospheric stability, WRF/CFD/LES modeling…)
  • Impact of climate change on wind resource
  • Innovative wind measurement equipment and wind measurement strategies
  • Any other project that He/She will consider of interest
He/She will also participate to R&D or business projects led by other teams for which His/Her skills will be required.

His/her main responsibilities are as followed:

  • Contribute to R&D Wind projects by applying his/her technical and cross-disciplinary skills
  • Ensure the realization of studies within the framework of the projects
  • Coordinate all actors involved in the study, including external resources
  • Design and develop new analytical techniques, tests, processes, etc.
  • Report research results in writing and/or with internal/external presentations
  • Take into account HSE and operational constraints in the implementation of technical solutions
  • Follow and communicate technological developments in his/her field of expertise (conferences, publications, etc.)
  • Develop and implement new techniques (methods, testing means, software, etc.)
  • Manage the operating and investment budgets of your team or project
  • Ensure the follow-up of PhDs and trainees for whom he/she is responsible (up to 5 technicians)

Candidate profile

  • PhD or scientific master’s degree 
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience (including PhD) in wind resource related topics
  • Skills in flow modeling (LES, CFD, WRF, …) and/or wind measurement and/or wind power production studies
  • Fluent English, French would be a plus
