Job Description:

Our client, with established mining operations, is seeking a Winding Engine Driver to support safe and efficient shaft hoisting operations. The role is responsible for operating and monitoring winding systems, identifying mechanical and electrical faults, and ensuring compliance with operational and safety standards.

Responsibilities:

• Safely hoist personnel, materials, and ore during shaft operations.
• Operate winding systems in line with mining legislation and safety standards.
• Conduct daily inspections and compliance checks on winding equipment.
• Control shaft signaling and coordinate underground movements.
• Verify load weights to prevent overloading and unsafe lifting practices.
• Maintain daily logbooks, downtime records, and shift reports.
• Perform risk assessments and enforce mine safety procedures.
• Assist in improving shift efficiency and operational workflows.
• Report breakdowns, productivity levels, and safety concerns to management.
• Support continuous operations through shifts, standby duties, and call-outs.

Requirements: Qualification and Skill

• Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Valid AC/DC Winding Engine Driver and Onsetter certificates.
• 3+ years’ experience as an AC/DC Winding Engine Driver.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Computer literate and able to interpret system displays.
• Medically fit with clear criminal record.
