Lagos — The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, NUPRC, has restated its commitment to preventing and tackling corruption, promising to deliver an untainted 2025 Licensing Round.
The Commission Chief Executive, Engineer Gbenga Komolafe, made the promise at an event held at the Commission’s headquarters in commemoration of the International Anti-Corruption Day.
The NUPRC helmsman further noted that one of the major ways the Commission had been able to tackle corruption was by reducing human interference and promoting technology like in the 2024 Licensing Round which drew commendation from the Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative, NEITI.
In her remarks, the guest speaker, Retired Appeal Court Justice Oludotun Adebola Adefope-Okojie, acknowledged the NUPRC’s transparency in the 2024 licensing round.
She, however, called on the Commission to deliberately encourage the participation of youths in the 2025 licensing round. She argued that young Nigerians had proven their mettle in the fintech space.
