Occidental’s greatest asset has been and will continue to be our people.  Occidental Petroleum Corporation subsidiary Oxy Midstream Strategic Development is looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of Advisor Business based in Houston, Texas.

Essential Job Duties:

 

  • Participate with Midstream’ s Producer Services & Commercial Teams to identify and resolve operational issues including infrastructure outages, production curtailments, product quality issues, compression performance, gathering performance, emissions flaring, etc.) between field operations, midstream and marketing for short term flow assurance
  • Understand and coordinate review with Oxy Production Teams and F&C on the rights and obligations under existing Third Party Crude and Gas contractual rights, obligations and limitations.
  • Participate in the strategic development with Midstream Commercial on Oxy and Third Party takeaway strategies to enable Oxy production growth by understanding key variables in Oxy Production Teams development plans combined with knowledge of business drivers of Third Party midstream providers.
  • Facilitate communication between Oxy Production Teams, F&C and Midstream, to drive generation of key upstream deliverables required for developing Midstream commercial takeaway solutions.
  • Ensure Third Party midstream infrastructure technical solutions meet field life cycle requirements by maintaining an understanding of key engineering and operational principles for pumping systems, compression systems, and pipeline networks
  • Support Upstream and Midstream business development activities by assisting in acquisitions, divestitures and ad hoc projects.
  • Provide performance reporting on (i) Oxy facilities including production availability, downtime (root cause analysis), response time, facility design limitations/remedies, flaring, emission events, spills, facility availability, etc. and (ii) for Third Parties contractual obligations, facility availability, downtime events (root cause analysis), timeline to restoration of service, impact of curtailments, utilizations, alternate pipeline connectivity for flow assurance, etc.

Qualifications

 

  • Candidates with at least 3 years’ experience in industry
  • Facilities Engineer, Planning, FDP, or other engineers with relevant experience
  • A general understanding of oil and gas operations, facility requirements and infrastructure
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate and align efforts among multiple Oxy teams
  • Strong team player able to contribute towards the development and execution of the production plans and provide flow assurance
  • Aptitude to obtain, analyze and validate data/information from multiple sources that lead to solutions and value recommendations.
  • Analytical skills able to quantify the impact and assess commercial viability of multiple options.
  • Knowledge and understanding of contractual terms and conditions
