Job Description:
Our client, a large African maritime and logistics company, is seeking an experienced and commercially driven Agency Manager to lead its operations in Guinea-Bissau. Reporting directly to the Group CEO, the successful candidate will be responsible for the country’s financial performance, operational excellence, customer relationships, regulatory compliance, and people leadership. The successful candidate must be fluent in Portuguese and have proven experience within the maritime, shipping or logistics industry.
Responsibilities:
- Own full country P&L performance, including revenue growth, profitability, EBITDA and cash flow.
- Drive the effective utilisation of ERP systems, reporting tools and digital business platforms to improve operational performance.
- Ensure full compliance with local legislation, corporate governance standards and company policies.
- Support HSQE implementation while promoting operational excellence across shipping, logistics and related business functions.
- Lead, mentor and develop high-performing multidisciplinary management teams.
- Establish clear performance objectives, KPIs and accountability frameworks throughout the organisation.
- Drive employee engagement, succession planning and leadership development initiatives.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, operational discipline and commercial accountability.
Qualification and Skill:
- Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Business, Economics, Logistics, Supply Chain Management or a related discipline.
- Extensive senior management experience with full P&L responsibility within the logistics, maritime, freight forwarding, shipping or related service industries.
- Previous experience working within Africa and multicultural, emerging-market environments.
- Strong understanding of commercial, financial and operational management principles.
- Demonstrated experience leading and developing cross-functional management teams.
- Strong understanding of governance, compliance and corporate risk management.
- Proficiency in ERP systems, reporting platforms and digital business tools.
- Fluency in Portuguese is essential.
