BASIC ACCOUNTABILITY
The Business Development-Geoscience performs analysis and prepares technical characterizations and models at the region or basin level. Utilizes this work to evaluate opportunities to increase company value and reach organizational goals. Works under minimal supervision.

 

EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree in the Geosciences, Master’s preferred

 

EXPERIENCE
Requires a minimum of 5 years of industry experience in geosciences

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
• Generate subsurface technical characterizations capable of qualifying and quantifying an asset. 

• Coordinate with Business Development and Business Unit personnel to refine subsurface characterizations
• Analyze a variety of projects for economic value analysis 
• Collect, analyze, and summarize information and trends 

• Manipulate data and make appropriate business recommendations 
• Provide objective analysis and materials in support of potential acquisitions and divestitures
• Participate in special projects as assigned by management to optimize processes by increasing efficiency

• Present characterizations, findings, and recommendations internally and externally
• Reviews and evaluates new opportunities working with BD, other corporate departments, banks, lawyers, and consultants
• Maintain professional and technical skills by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and establishing personal networks

• Mentors less experienced employees

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
• Oil and gas industry experience  

• Practice safe work habits at all times
• Demonstrate commitment to Devon Values 
• Experience in multiple basins and ability to quickly understand new basins 

• Ability to rapidly develop understanding of regional trends across analyzed basins and plays
• Functional understanding of all technical disciplines and their interactions
• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Creative individual, capable of analyzing and solving problems
• Able to work independently
• Strong interpersonal skills with ability to effectively work within a multi-disciplinary team to achieve  project related goals

• Efficient time management and the ability to concurrently handle multiple projects
