Job Description:
Our client, a well-established mining operation in Namibia, is seeking a highly organised and commercially driven Contract Specialist to join their Supply Chain team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing commercial agreements and contract portfolios, ensuring alignment with operational requirements, governance standards, and broader supply chain objectives. The role focuses on driving value through effective contract negotiation, supplier engagement, commercial optimisation, and risk mitigation within a mining environment. This opportunity is suited to a detail-oriented professional with strong commercial acumen and experience within mining, industrial, engineering, or heavy industry environments.
Responsibilities:
- Draft, negotiate, implement, and manage commercial contracts and supplier agreements.
- Ensure contracts align with operational, commercial, legal, and supply chain requirements.
- Monitor contract lifecycle activities including renewals, amendments, and compliance tracking.
- Support supplier performance management through KPI and SLA monitoring.
- Conduct commercial evaluations, cost modelling, and market analysis to support sourcing decisions.
- Maintain accurate contract registers, document control systems, and audit-ready records.
- Collaborate with operations, finance, legal, engineering, and HSE teams to ensure alignment on commercial agreements.
- Identify commercial risks and implement mitigation strategies to minimise operational exposure.
- Support category management initiatives through supplier assessments and market intelligence.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to contract governance and commercial performance.
Requirements: Qualification and Skill
- Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Commerce, Law, Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in procurement, commercial administration, or contract management.
- Proven experience drafting, negotiating, and managing commercial contracts.
- Exposure to mining, engineering, industrial, or heavy-industry environments advantageous.
- Strong understanding of contract law, commercial terms, and risk allocation.
- Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or Pronto.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Advanced MS Office proficiency.
- Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel to operational sites when required.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced operational environment.
