We are currently looking for experienced, motivated, and creative individuals to fill the Data Analyst position within our US Onshore Resources & Carbon Management (ORCM), Delaware Basin New Mexico business unit based in Houston, Texas.
Candidate will be part of Well Analysis and Desing team which is the core team of development. The technical analysis and recommendations are critical inputs for many teams in the business unit development team (Field Development Plan, Reserve, Characterization, and inventory growth teams) and other Oxy organizations (Asset, Planning, and Operation teams). WAD team consists of qualified reservoir engineers, production engineers, and completion engineers striving to put in place all the necessary datasets, tools, multidiscipline workflows, and key performance indicators necessary to monitor and optimize Oxy’s development strategy and production performance. The candidate should have a keen desire to creatively apply new technologies and workflows to support entire WAD team and other development teams for their automation needs, workflow optimization and basic data analytics tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Drive the direction of workflows, process and directions
- Serve as the Subject Matter Expert for technical resources (Oxy data environment, BI applications and analysis tools, Automation/Coding)
- Combine technical skills with business acumen to build solutions with minimal or no oversight or supervision
- Analysts often have enhanced responsibility and system access due to their technical background and training – SQL server rights and access – that are granted by DMA/IT (Recognized by other teams as experts)
- Build and continuously refine data and project best practices with automation, coding and streamlining of workflows.
- Technical competency in scripting, database integration, advanced graphing/visualization display, as well as strong business/industry knowledge base
Qualifications
Education:
4-year college degree
Experience, Skills and Competencies:
- Minimum 2 years of applicable industry experience.
- Proficient at extracting, manipulating, correcting, and analyzing data (Access, Excel and Spotfire)
- Works collaboratively with others to achieve common goals and positive results.
- Ensures high quality data is available for the decision-making processes.
- Can work with minimum of supervision, self-motivated.
- Ability to work on multiple tasks and orchestrate multiple activities at once to accomplish goals.
- Seeks out creative and innovative solutions. Brings new ideas to the team that adds value.
- Strong time management skills and critical thinking skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to comfortably handle change, priorities, risk and uncertainty.
- Ability to break down work into the process steps, anticipate and adjust for problems and roadblocks.
- Basic understanding of oil and gas operations.
