Job Description:
Our client is seeking a Deputy Manager – Purchase to manage and support the end-to-end procurement process, with a particular focus on bearings and related industrial products. The successful candidate will be responsible for cost-effective sourcing, supplier identification and management, commercial negotiations, purchase order management, inventory optimisation, and coordination of international shipments. The role requires a commercially focused procurement professional with strong supplier management capabilities and experience working within an international purchasing environment.
Responsibilities:
- Identify, evaluate, and onboard reliable local and international suppliers.
- Obtain and compare supplier quotations, pricing, terms, and delivery conditions.
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, payment terms, and commercial agreements.
- Maintain strong supplier relationships to support quality and on-time delivery.
- Prepare and place purchase orders with approved suppliers.
- Track orders, production progress, shipments, and delivery schedules.
- Coordinate with logistics teams regarding shipping, customs clearance, and deliveries.
- Resolve supplier issues relating to delays, shortages, and quality discrepancies.
- Monitor market trends and price fluctuations to secure favourable purchasing terms.
- Monitor inventory levels and reorder points to prevent shortages or overstocking.
- Identify and implement procurement cost-saving opportunities.
- Maintain accurate procurement records including POs, invoices, and contracts.
- Verify supplier certifications, compliance documentation, and quality reports.
- Coordinate with warehouse, finance, and sales teams to align purchasing with demand.
- Report on procurement status, cost savings, inventory, and supplier performance.
Requirements: Qualification and Skill
- Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Business, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years’ procurement/purchasing experience.
- Experience procuring bearings or related industrial/mechanical products is highly advantageous.
- Experience sourcing from China-based suppliers is preferred.
- Strong supplier management and commercial negotiation skills.
- Experience with procurement software and/or ERP systems.
- Knowledge of INCOTERMS, international shipping, and customs.
- Strong analytical and cost-optimisation capabilities.
- Organised, detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work under pressure.
- Willing to undertake overseas travel as required.
