Job Description:

 

Our client is seeking a qualified Internal Audit Manager from a mining background with strong SOX experience, to join their team, based out of Gauteng.

This role will champion governance, strengthen risk management, and uphold compliance across the business.

   

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement the internal audit strategy and methodology in line with organizational objectives.
  • Lead the risk-based audit planning process, including annual and longterm rolling plans.
  • Manage and develop the audit team through performance oversight, training, and skills development.
  • Oversee or conduct special reviews and adhoc investigations, and report findings in a timely manner.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant auditing standards, regulations, and internal frameworks.
  • Promote the use of technology, automation, and data analytics to enhance audit efficiency.
  • Lead IT and cyber security audits and provide technical guidance to support skills development.
  • Build productive stakeholder relationships and deliver clear, valuedriven recommendations.
  • Ensure all audit deliverables are completed on schedule and meet quality requirements.
  • Stay informed on industry developments and continuously refine audit practices and methodologies. 

 

Requirem  ents: Qualification and Skill

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Auditing, or similar.
  • Professional certification (CISA, CIA, CA, CPA or ACCA) preffered.
  • MBA / Postgraduate qualification advantageous.
  • 10+ years’ experience in internal audit, controls and finance change initiatives within the mining sector, of which at least 5 years must be at management level.
  • Proven experience in leading audit teams and designing and implementing riskbased audit plans within large mining, industrial or manufacturing environments.
  • SOX expertise with knowledge of IIA Professional Practices Framework, IIA Code of Ethics, SOX requirements, COSO frameworks, and the King Code.
  • Well-versed in data analytics, governance frameworks, risk management practices, IT auditing, cyber security principles and forensic auditing methodologies.
  • Proficient in auditing software.
  • Current residence in or around Gauteng preferred.
