Job Description:

Our client, a leading uranium mining operation in Central Africa, is seeking a qualified and motivated Logistics Superintendent to join their team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and controlling the site logistics function, with a primary focus on the safe, compliant, and timely outbound transportation of uranium products, while also overseeing inbound freight and general site logistics activities. The role will ensure all shipments, permits, customs requirements, documentation, freight movements, service providers, and logistics costs are effectively managed in accordance with regulatory and operational requirements.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced logistics professional to contribute to a major mining operation within a highly regulated and safety-focused environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate end-to-end outbound logistics for uranium product shipments, from shipment readiness through to delivery confirmation.
  • Ensure all logistics activities comply with safety, environmental, statutory, dangerous goods, radiation safety, customs, and site requirements.
  • Manage export documentation, permits, customs requirements, shipment records, and delivery confirmations for product and sample movements.
  • Coordinate with internal departments, service providers, clearing agents, transporters, and other logistics stakeholders.
  • Oversee inbound freight movements for goods, equipment, spares, reagents, and other critical site requirements.
  • Maintain logistics trackers and status reports covering shipment progress, documentation, risks, blockers, costs, and required actions.
  • Supervise logistics personnel, ensuring work allocation, follow-up, process compliance, and knowledge transfer.
  • Monitor logistics service provider performance to ensure delivery against agreed service levels.
  • Assist with logistics cost control, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support operational planning through effective coordination of site logistics requirements.

Requirements: Qualification and Skill

  • Proven logistics experience within mining, chemicals, heavy industry, dangerous goods, cross-border freight, freight forwarding, clearing, or similar operational environments.
  • Experience coordinating complex logistics activities across multiple internal departments and external service providers.
  • Sound understanding of export documentation, customs processes, freight forwarding, clearing procedures, port operations, shipment tracking, and international transport requirements.
  • Experience with dangerous goods logistics, radioactive material transportation, Class 7 movements, or African cross-border logistics will be advantageous.
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems, purchase orders, goods receipting, invoice follow-up, and logistics cost control processes.
  • Strong Excel, reporting, tracker management, and document control skills with high attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational, coordination, and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Extensive EPCM project delivery experience.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Management, or a related discipline will be advantageous.
