HYBRID ELIGIBILITY

This position works a hybrid schedule, spending time remotely and in the office in Minot, ND. The current hybrid schedule provides flexibility to collaborate in the office Tuesdays through Thursdays and work from home Mondays and Fridays. With our 9/80 feature you get time off every other Friday when you work at least 80 hours over the preceding nine days.

 

POSITION SUMMARY

This role will be responsible for leading environmental, health, and safety teams supporting reliability operations. The reliability operations EHS teams are made up of various skillsets and capabilities and work in tandem to promote and assure safe work practices across the ND asset. This role must liaise and influence across operational work teams, contract vendors, and associated internal functions to streamline safety initiatives asset-wide.

 

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides leadership and guidance to the reliability operations and asset EHS teams
  • Supports and coordinates the implementation of EHS Management Systems and key processes 
  • Ensures compliance with the 14 Elements of OSHA Process Safety Management Guidelines
  • Ensures appropriate interfaces are established with regulatory agencies and third parties on compliance and enforcement issues 
  • Supervises and leads EHS staff to meet EHS performance objectives, participates in assessing staff performance and fosters professional development
  • Optimizes the effectiveness and efficiency of EHS management systems and processes
  • Implements systems to identify and monitor key performance indicators within area of responsibility, and adjusts resources and programs as needed
  • Develops effective working relationships with Operational and General management personnel to ensure expectations are clearly defined and met by all parties
  • Develops strategies and programs targeted at continued and substantial improvement in EHS performance and compliance
  • Ensures EHS Improvement Plans and departmental objectives support the business needs
  • Confirms operations maintains compliance with applicable regulatory requirements
  • Builds and enhances relationships with internal business partners and external organizations
  • Ensures that risk management principles are adopted and assessments are conducted to mitigate/control hazards
  • Establishes processes and procedures in support of the Hess Ways of Working      
  • Prepares and monitors the annual EHS budget in line with the business needs and ongoing contract management activities
  • Ensures appropriate Emergency Response procedures and facilities are established and maintained in support of operational activities
  • Guarantees the effectiveness and readiness of Emergency Response arrangements, to be regularly tested with improvements identified/implemented
  • Coordinates and supports the investigation of incidents as necessary, providing corrective action recommendations as required and monitoring/reporting on action status
  • Undertakes trend analysis on incidents providing feedback and recommendations to facilitate continuous improvement
  • Prepares weekly, monthly, and annual EHS performance updates and reports as required
  • Required to maintain on-call flexibility and/or participate in an on-call rotational schedule to control abnormal conditions (e.g.,  Incident Management Team, Emergency Response Coordination, and night/weekend support as needed)

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience

  • 10 years experience in the Oil & Gas or Petrochemical industry, with operations emphasis preferred
  • 5 years experience in management / supervisory role preferred 
  • Knowledge of applicable safety requirements and practices
  • Ability to work effectively across a diverse, multidiscipline team environment
  • Deep understanding of process/production operations required
  • Leading and developing teams preferred 
  • Self-motivated and team orientated 
  • Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills

 

Education, Training & Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in science, safety, engineering, or related field preferred
